Learning/practicing different methods simultaneously

It's been awhile since my introductory post and since then I have been practicing the Red 7 count at home, which I found less confusing than other methods, and doing drills on the Qfit software.

At this point, I wonder if I ever will be ready to "go live" or if I'll be able to count and still enjoy the game. I would hope that it would become second nature at some point, but I'm having difficulty envisioning that because I find it so hard to play and count at the same time.

So I went back to Renzey's "Blackjack Bluebook" (probably in the same frame of mind some people read the Bible for guidance!) and I'm thinking maybe I need to master walking before running. IOW, progress from BS to mastering the more advanced play strategies in the book, then master the Ace/10 front count - and see where I'm at.

Feedback? I mean, I feel like a total dope because I cannot seem to master counting. Will going back and doing that just mess up whatever progress (however small) I've made in learning to count? Or should I have learned and mastered these strategies before even trying to master counting anyway?

Pick ONE counting system and master it. Trying to learn all the different systems is ridiculous - there are NO professionals who try this. It's not only a monumental task, it's basically USELESS. Here's the dirty little secret: The most advanced system in the world is only a LITTLE bit better than the simplest plus-minus count.

stay with one system and indstead and use the time you would have used for a different system learning new skills
