No splitting of 5s, 10s or 4s

Hi.

A casino I've been to a couple of times here in England does not allow splitting of 5s, 10s or 4s. At the moment I'm a basic strategy player so I wouldn't split 10s or 5s anyway, but if the dealer's up-card is a 5 or 6, I'd like to be able to split a pair of 4s. (DAS is allowed.) Obviously there's nothing I can do about this, I just wondered if this is a fairly common rule or what the point of it is meant to be. Seems that not being able to split 5s or more obviously 10s is an advantage to novice players, but why the restriction on 4s also?
