At one point during my time at the tables recently, I found myself playing alongside two relatively attractive women. One of the women appeared to be in her 40's, while the other in her mid 20's. The older woman was the last to join the table and immediately questioned every play both myself and the other woman made. Table was: DD, H17, DA2, DAS.
The two had different playing styles. The older woman knew most basic strategy moves, while the younger appeared to play on instinct and superstitions.
I just ignored the older woman's comments; however, the younger woman appeared agitated. When the older woman berated the other for hitting a Q-4 vs. 2, and busting with a 9, she responded "well, at least I'm making money. Ever since you sat down all you've been doing is throwing away your money. The 2 is the dealer's ace." Then, the dealer turns a 10 over for 12, and pulls a 10 to bust.
Filled with new-found confidence, the younger woman exclaims "SEE, I TOLD you so! If I hadn't hit, the whole table would have lost. You have no clue what you're doing!"
I looked at the younger woman, smiled, and slowly shook my head. Not to be silenced, the older woman bites back "You little smart ass. I would rather have lost than watch you screw up the flow of the cards! You should take this and go buy a basic strategy card..." The older woman tossed a $1 chip in the others direction. Looking at me, the older woman continues "Don't you agree, sir? She can't play!" Not really wanting to get involved, I said "Just play how you want and don't worry about it."
The bickering continued for the next hour, and after seeing more non-basic strategy moves, the older woman left the table and sat at an adjacent table.
The younger woman smiles back and says "Thank-you for not ridiculing me earlier. I think I'm going to give back her $1. Poor woman needs it. She practically lost all of her hands!"
The younger woman gets up, gives the other back her $1 chip, and says "You need this more than i do. " Then someone, who appears to be the young woman's girlfriend, stops by, gives her a very intimate kiss, and walks out with her.
Not too bad of a session so far!
The older woman, looking extremely angry, comes back to join my table. "Finally," she sighed. "That little bimbo won't be screwing up the cards."
Well, needless to say it didn't take long for this "basic strategy player" to get on my nerves. On one of the next hands, dealer is showing 6. I had A,8....so I double. Dealer had 4 under, then drew 2 and a 8 for a total of 20. When turning over the player's cards, I notice the lady had hit her 4,4 and drew a 5. When my cards were turned over, I received an Ace for my double down card. Obviously, she lost and I pushed.
She berated me for doubling when I wasn't supposed to. I shook my head and asked why she didn't split. Out came the "You don't split anything that starts with "F". I couldn't help but laugh. Angrily, she complained to the PB that no one knew how to play and she was going to take the rest of her money elsewhere. She promptly left. The PB came over to me and apologized for her behavior. Apparently, the older woman was a regular and usually bullies other players to play their hands like she wants. People have complained about her, but she is still allowed to play.
Ploppies definitely make for added entertainment.
