Looking in The Big Book of Blackjack it mentions Red7 and Spanish21...is this a good idea or should I use Hi-Lo instead?

Thoughts?

Normal unbalanced counts do not work well with SP21 due to the altered deck.

But all the usual balanced counts automatically become unbalanced counts in SP21. The bigger problem is the radically different EOR of some of the cards. Recommend you get and use Kat's book, unless you have a lot of experience designing counting systems.

Which makes them too unbalanced.
To be used in RC mode certainly. I wonder how high an order a balanced BJ count would have to be to make a good choice for a RC count in SP21. My cursory examination shows the floating advantage of SP21 is a little less than for BJ.

No matter what, you'd want a balanced count for playing decision purposes. Nothing wows the crowd like hitting 15 vs 6 at the SP21 table.
