Strategy Engine

While we are on the subject of the strategy engine on this site. When I first joined and started flat betting using the engine it seemed I could not loose. I would play for a half hour or so at work on my lunch hour. I was practising for our trip to vegas. As the time to fly out got closer, it seemed I was loosing a lot of hands and play money with the trainer. If I could get back to even that was a good session. Well my luck seemed to follow me to vegas. We had fun and I ended up down some. Just like with the trainer I could not win the double downs or splits. Even a 19 or a 20 against a dealer 3 or 4 would loose. I can not count how many 16's I was dealt. Once I got home, I did not play the trainer for about a week. When I started again with the trainer, it seemed once again I could not loose. I won 12 hands in a row. My wonder is, I did have a slump start with the trainer that seemed to follow me to vegas and finally ended when I got home. Is this likely? If I am playing in a slump with the trainer, am I better off not hitting the casino? I seem to be moving into a slump again. I know I need to play through the slump. Am I imagining something or not? YES. Definitely! You are in a slump and the genius, Ken Smith, has concocted a very devious program that predicts these slumps! It is almost certain that when his traning engine is loosing to you, you need to drop everything, mortgage the house and catch a plane to Vegas and cash in on it! You must only hope that the streak does not end during your flight out there. Do NOT play the trainer on the plane or you might use up all of your winning hands before getting to the casino. Well, if you are in a slump and you cannot avoid going to Vegas, then you should play the trainer on the flight out there and use up all those loosing hands.
While I'm at it, I can make you a great deal. I'm accepting payment of $250 in exchange for naming crater on Luna (our moon) whatever you wish. For $2,500 I will make it a large crator. For an additional $5, I will send you nice certificate proclaiming you as the namer of said crater if you will pay postage and handling of $15.

Sorry MDW. I just couldn't resist. I am sorry about your loss in Vegas. You get the adrenalin pumping before getting there and it doesn't play out like you been mentally playing it! How well I know!

The loss did not bother me much, in fact my wife with my coaching was ahead. I should have switched seats with her on our last session.I just wonder if there could be a link between an unlucky streak on the computer and one at a real table. I don't think anyone really understands luck. We all know when we have bad luck and good luck, and that some people are just born lucky. I guess I am just trying to understand how luck affects the game. Since all other varibles are covered by mathematical odds, the only thing left might be plain old luck. If one could forecast their luck, just think of how the odds could swing to the player's advantage.

We give "luck" a fancy name..."VARIANCE." It's quite simply the way that in reality, cards fall contrary to the predicted mathematical norm or average. By the computed percentages, a player should win aprox 48% of the hands played and the dealer, the 52% left over. Play it long enough, and those will hold true. However, in the short term, that variance can really get lopsided....such happens when you loose 11 in a row! No way to predict when it's going to happen. If you could, it wouldn't be gambling. Even those who count cards can't depend on it for a short session. Even though a count is very high, it is no guarantee that the player is going to win....it's just more likely that he will.
