What happened to a thread that was started last week?

I believe John Crover started a thread on the topic of developing standard deviation formulas and Don S gave at least two replies, the first of which gave a link to a real lot of information and now it is gone. Why was it taken down?

I saw some sort of error message yesterday, and then the whole thread seemed to have blown up.
