Where to Stay in Tunica?

Never been to Tunica and looking for recommendations of where to stay/play.

Casino - looking for LOW minimum tables

Hotel - looking for CHEAP rooms. Will spend most waking hours in the casino, so don't wanna waste money on the room.

With these ideas in mind - where should I stay?

Just got back from Vegas and now want to try Tunica.
Stayed in Vegas at the Sahara for same reason - cheap rooms and low minimum tables ($3)

Thanks for any help.
Is Tunica like a mini-Vegas or is it way different?

Tunica is way differrent than Vegas or any other place you will play at. It has nine casinos they are not all next to one another. Some casinos are right next to each other. All the casinos are on leased farmland. It is pretty much like gambling themepark. I would recommend getting a rental car. It is very easy to get around they always have signs,which way to go to each casino. They have a shuttle for 2$, from another thread about Tunica it is recommended to avoid the shuttle.

What kind of games do you want to play mostly? Pitch or shoe?
I played Pitch games when I was there.

Fitzgerald was best place with low limit tables and good pen.
Horseshoe also had decent games with low limit tables.
Grand games were bad games for your bet level. Don't bother with getting a card at the Grand. This was the worst place for comps I have ever played at.
Sams Town had decent games.
Didn't bother with the other casinos they didn't have the games I wanted to play

I stayed at Hollywood, but didn't bother playing. Bad games heard they don't tolerate a lot. Hollywood was ok place to stay. I didnt like my room it had a view of the casino floor instead of view of outside. I would look at see which casinos are having a promo for rooms. I hear they are not as busy as they were a little while ago. Maybe because more people are heading to GC to play with all the recent re-openings.

Tunica is not like gambling anywhere else. Especially if you are just returning from Vegas! Avoid the shuttles. They will eat up waaaay to much of your gambling time. And, it's kind of like riding the prison bus...so I'm told.

The Grand has nice rooms. You gan get good mid-week rates. Do not play there. The Fitz is cheap enough, but the room we had was "kind of stank."

For playing, I'd play Fitzgerald's or Sam's Town. Good comps at both. I've done OK at Hollywood and got spanked at Goldstrike.

Great Friday night seafood buffet at both the Fitz and Hollywood.
 
Would it be too much to put some real numbers up instead of things like 'a good mid-week rate". In NYC,that could mean you pay $425 instead of the weekend rate of $650.
Same goes for table stakes.
Remember,you are dealing with people who have never been there.

Sorry, didn't realize I was the designated travel agent and mistakenly assumed everyone could use the internet to check rates and availability on their own.

The last time I stayed at the Grand mid-week in July, it was $49/night. However, they are currently showing a rate $79/night on Travelocity, $99/night on their web site.

The Horseshoe is showing a rate of $64.90/night for a deluxe room mid-week.

Goldstrike - $69
Sam's Town - $58
Fitzgerald's - $59

You can always find a $5 table in Tunica. Stick with Fitgerald's. The dealers keep their tips rather than split and give deeper penetration.

Not pitch, and I prefer shoe to CSM.
I only use BS, and don't count, so I don't want to play SD or DD.
But, I do refuse to play at 6:5 tables if they have them.

That was someone else that asked about the room rates, but your reply was hysterical.

I primarily wanted to know where can you find cheap ($5) tables. That info can be hard to find.

I can find the room rates easily enough -- although thanks for letting us know what some of the rates are.

Why do not want to play SD or DD? Counting or not,they still have a better edge than any shoe game.

1) Personal preference - I'd rather not handle the cards.
2) I learned the BS for 6-8 deck because that is the type I have more opportunity to play. SD & DD have a different BS that I'd have to learn.

Maybe I should rethink this though as I just checked the BS Engine here and do see that the player has a better advantage (house has a lower advantage)in SD & DD.

I think card counters prefer the SD & DD, but I see where these games are more advantageous for a non-counter too using only BS.
 
Don't forget-If you are not counting,then you want to play less hands per hour.A SD game that is shuffled after every round is ideal for non-counters. It slows the game down and your money last longer.Perfect for comp-counters.
 
Horsehoe and Fitzgeralds have 10$ SD games. The rest of places in town are 25$ min. You can find 5$ DD games at the Fitz. The fitz and HS SD games usually were a lot less crowded than the DD games.

if a game has a 5 or 10 minimum bet, what are the max bets?
with good pen?

3:2 10$ tables I think the max bet was $1000, but I never payed attention to max bet since I never will play max bet. Tunica's pen for SD is ok 50-60% on the 10$ tables. Tunica SD games that pay 3:2 are all H17 not H17 Double on 10,11 only.
 
My favorite place to stay in Tunica is the Horseshoe, the rooms are the best and the Buffet is the best in Tunica, adjoining the Horseshoe on one side is the Gold Strike, the other side is the Sheraton where you will always find DD deck 5.00 tables. I do not know what the room rates are because I have always had them comped. I simply go to the casino host before checking out and beg for help on my room, they run my players card and have always so far give me my room for free. There are no mid-shoe entry even on 6 deck shoe games but the table limits are 5000.00.
