Is playing at an online casino legal in Uganda?
Uganda licenses gambling through the National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board, but the licensed market is built around sports betting, and the casinos on this page are offshore sites, not Uganda-licensed. Under the Board's 2025 responsible-gaming rules, licensed Ugandan operators must offer self-exclusion and deposit limits. None of that reaches an offshore casino, so a self-exclusion set in the casino's own account settings is the only one that will hold there. |
Will you get in trouble for playing from Uganda?
No. Uganda's gambling offences are written for operators who run games without a licence, not for the people who play, and there is no record of a Ugandan being prosecuted for using an offshore casino. What you give up is protection, not legality: these sites are not licensed in Uganda, so no Ugandan regulator hears your complaint, and the Board can lawfully have an unlicensed site blocked. Two practical things set Uganda apart: you must be 25 to play, and the casinos on this page do not take shillings or mobile money, so plan how you will pay in and cash out before you deposit.
