    Question about 16s

Actually, in any positive count you should be standing against a ten. Does not even have to be +1. The Illustrious 18 also says to stand against a 9 when the count is +5 or greater. As far as I know you should always be hitting against a 7, 8, and ace. I was playing in the early morning hours...

    Myths in the Movie 21

There was a point in the film when Kate Bosworth mentioned that splitting eights against a ten was a sucker play and Kevin Spacey agreed with her. Can someone explain??

    Play blackjack, win an Ipod

I played for fifteen minutes and started to get a headache, so it looks like I'll have to save for that iPod instead. You start with 50 gold pieces and the minimum bet is two gold pieces. I imagine it can't be too hard to obtain more currency to gamble if you lose it all. You are a pirate, after...

    Play blackjack, win an Ipod

I took the bait and registered. It turns out that this contest is part of a massive multiplayer Pirates of the Caribbean game (think G-rated World of Warcraft). According to the contest page, whoever wins the most blackjack hands within the game between 12:00 am and 11:59 pm (Pacific time) each...

    sometimes it pays to tip

I strongly disagree. Stating that dealers "turn cards over and add them up and do payouts" implies that their job is basic and easy. While dealing blackjack isn't the most difficult job in the world, dealers are often subjected to abusive customers, large quantities of secondhand smoke, rude and...

    Card Counting Dealers

These comments you refer to don't really suggest that the dealer knows how to count. He may have been counting the number of aces that had come out just for fun. Or he could have made his comment after he noticed a lot of them on the table in one round, and none happened to be dealt again for...

    sometimes it pays to tip

I think the posters in this thread missed what the OP implied: that the dealer gave him even money on his blackjack even after she flipped over the ten in the hole. If my understanding of his post is correct, this is a very risky action on the dealer's part.
