    Mythical "quarter deck" blackjack

I know that the fewer the number of decks in a shoe, the less the house edge is and and the better it is for the player. I was wondering what it would be like to have a blackjack game using only a quarter deck ..... just the hearts from 2 through Ace. 13 cards. (Of course any suit could be...

Let's say you always know dealer's hole card

I am a relative newbie here so please forgive me if this has been discussed before. Let's assume that you are playing a game of blackjack where the dealer deals all cards face up, including his own. Obviously there would be changes in playing strategy, some of them drastic. If the...

Does the gambling public have the right to know?

Yes, you stated it as well as (and maybe even better than) I did! That is the question, along with my general question of whether the gambling public has the right to know which whether that is the case. Pennsylvania does not allow live table games but does allow the "virtual" electronic...

Does the gambling public have the right to know?

Not sure if I understand what you are saying. Are you suggesting that the machines by law must play legitimately (like human table games) rather than playing like a slot machine (with predetermined results)?

Does the gambling public have the right to know?

I've touched on this in several of my posts about the Shufflemaster Blackjack Machine but it also applies to machines that play other card games such as video poker. Here goes. Does the gambling public, who supports the industry, have a right to know whether the cards behave strictly...

    Double trouble!

Please let me know why anyone (a pro or someone else) would ever want to double with a hard-14 against a 10. If there is a rationale for doing that, I surely do not see it.

    Double trouble!

Just when I thought I had seen it all, I saw a guy do two things last night: (1) He got a pair of Aces again a dealer 9 and he DOUBLED DOWN rather than splitting them! (2) He got a hard total of 14 (King and 4) and DOUBLED DOWN versus a dealer 10! He lost both bets and since his base...

    Shufflemaster Blackjack Slot Machine follow-up

I doubt that is the case since all five players, even though their hands may be independent of each other, go against the same dealer upcards. By the way I do not think you are permitted to hit a blackjack, as someone mentioned here. I think it just declares you a winner and skips to the next...

    Splitting 5's and 10's against a dealer 10!!!

YES it is the machine you described. A casino in Pennsylvania has eleven of them: some of them have videotapes of men and some of women. I don't recall seeing the backgrounds randomly changing. Each player gets a separate hand and (as described above) it's a six-deck game with a shuffle after...

    Splitting 5's and 10's against a dealer 10!!!

If it's that .1% chance then he must be cheating by knowing the programmers. Because the dealer is simply a pretty lady on a large video screen. Of course maybe he would LIKE to cheat with her (the REAL lady that is) but I don't think that's what you have in mind here!

    Splitting 5's and 10's against a dealer 10!!!

I would say cover strategy is unlikely since the dealer is on a TV screen! And since the six-decks are reshuffled after each round, card counting of any type is probably insignficant.

    Splitting 5's and 10's against a dealer 10!!!

I was playing the Shuffle Master Royal Match table game (blackjack machine) last night for my usual minimum bet (five bucks per hand) and a guy next to me was playing for 50 and 100 bucks a hand. And he was quite amazing to say the least! On one hand he had a pair of 5s and the dealer...

Be honest now? Have you ever lost control? Resorted to Martingale?

I assume most of you have played blackjack much longer than I have. So I feel this is proper fodder for discussion here. It isn't just a matter of knowing the proper strategy. It's a matter of self-control. Now be honest. Have you ever totally lost your composure when the cards have not...

Shuffle Master "Royal Match" machines now operating -- here are the actual rules!

I really think that the operators of video poker or video blackjack machines should be required to tell the public honestly whether or not this is a true blackjack game. That appears to be the $64,000 question here. No one seems to know. But I have a feeling that in addition to those...

Shuffle Master "Royal Match" machines now operating -- here are the actual rules!

They finally made operational the Shuffle Master "Royal Match" black jack machines at the casino in Pennsylvania. Those who are interested in which one can email me privately. Why should I give them free publicitly unless, of course, there's something in it for me? LOL :) I will not discuss...
