Dealer Mistakes

#61
Today, the guy next to me got paid and extra unit on a three unit bet. He saw it, paired the uneven stacks against each other, and pulled the larger stack back to his chips. The dealer was going round the table paying and nobody (least of all me) said anything.

A little while later the casino ran a promotion. For the next 30 minutes, anytime the dealer draws to 21, it will be considered a push for anyone at the table with 21 or less. Well, the dealer drew to a 21, took everyones money and the five of us at the table forgot about the promotion. Someone (not me) mentioned it midway through the deal of the next hand but neither the dealer or the Pit Boss that came over were going to go back and do anything about it. Se La Vie.

The dealer can do nothing except call the pit over. A pit who is unwilling to call the Eye to see if the dealer had in fact 21 on the previous hand and also which players were still alive in the hand (did not bust), is definately someone whose head must be gone over. A request should be made for his supervisor to come over because it is very likely that this pit is wanting to protect his dealer from being seen as making an error, but he is doing it at your expense.

Being a AP you generally do not want to bring too much attention to yourself but once I had a similar instance where to floorperson was just a dual-rate and her pit boss was just an ass*(&#. The amount of money was over 4 figures and the casino was one where longevity meant nothing to me. I was angry, I stormed out of the place and wrote a very concise letter with table number, date, time, and names of those supervisiors to the casino manager.
Surprisingly, a week later he called me in my office, said he reviewed the situation and that it should have been handled completely differently. He offered me what was the proper amount of money and then threw in a room and dinner in their best restaurant on my return. At that point I went for the kill and got my wife two hours in their spa also.

I still count in that casino but I get there perhaps only twice a year, so they did not settle up with me because I am a regular. I am sure there were regulars at that table who got screwed and just took it. They settled because the big boss did was was right, might have been afraid I would spread things by word of mouth and because I did not whimp out. I probably would have taken the unfair beating had it been a minimum bet just not to bring attention to myself, but here was a situation where I was never returning unless it was setteled my way...Nothing to lose. By the way, this was an Indian casino.
