I started small with $1 bets, and had enough in my bankroll to cover 7 losses.

That is not nearly enough. A streak of 7 losses will occur very frequently, as you noticed. Re-read this thread and you will see that streaks of 10-12 losses are not uncommon and even as high as 20 or more are possible. If you play long enough you will eventually hit a losing streak that wipes you out. This is not a winning system in the long run.

A 7 loss streak knocked me down under $1,000. I started over again with the original $5 bet and rallied slightly, but eventually was wiped out by another 7 loss streak followed by a 5 loss streak.

That is how a posative progression system works - you have many small wins followed by a few big losses. That is exactly what we've been trying to warn people about!

I got the feeling that the software program was wise to this strategy and adjusted the deal accordingly (I started tracking play stats and they are ridiculously skewed). The cards turned ice cold! I replenished with $500 (enough for $5 X 6 losses), however this seemed to make the dealer even angrier, and he continued to lay the smack down.

This is not an indication of cheating software. This is an indication that betting progression systems don't work! Don't blame the "wise" software, the "angry" dealer, or the "ice cold" cards for your loss - blame yourself.

I'm sort of stunned right now and I'm sure I'll feel worse in the morning.

Yes, but hopefully you will wake up and realize what you have done. You lost a lot of money and you will lose even more if you don't stop and think about this.

The lessons: 1) my bankroll either needed to be large enough to cover 9 or 10 $5 losses or I should have reduced the size of my bet.

That will not help. As we have been saying all through this thread, you will have much bigger losses than that. The house has the advantage and they will get your money in the end.

2) just like slot machines, the software program cannot be trusted.

This is also not true. I, any many other players here, have won money from many different online casinos. The software is not the problem here.

Despite tonight's loss, I'm still not completely disgusted with this strategy.

Why not? When will you be disgusted? When you lose the rest of your money? How much loosing will it take to disgust you? I would seriously suggest that you re-read this thread, read a few other websites, and think about what you are doing. Here is a good start:
