Got demolished in a high count at a blackjack table for 8/10 shoes.

Went to the roulette table.

500 on first 12
500 on second 12
750 on black

No thought process involved.

Huge disadvantage.

Red 36.

Thanks for coming out.

Next time leave the casino altogether, go and get some fresh air, count to 25 really slowly, and then get in your car and drive home.

I know ive been a victim to steaming before, looking back on it, i think what on earth was i thinking, so maybe the lesson was worth it.

He put 500 on 1-12, another 500 on 13-24 and another 750 on Black. The spin landed Red 36.

Nothing else it could have landed on after steaming like that though

You should probably stay away from the casino until you can work out your anger/gambling problem. You can be the best card counter in the world, but if you go and play roulette every time you have a losing day, you are going to go broke in the long run.

I feel your pain

I know a couple of weeks ago, I had a +3 to +6 TC for almost 3/4 of the shoe and I got absolutely destroyed as I had my max bet out for quite a bit. It was just unreal and despite me getting destroyed I got a little heat. I guess the dealer figured out that I was counting. After that, I figured ok I can't have worse luck right? Wrong.. I went to the poker table. My very first hand I played, I had pocket rockets so I was naturally very happy. I raised it preflop in a 1/2 NL game to $10. I only had 1 caller. Flop comes out. Other guy bets. High card on the flop was a queen so I put him on a pair of Queens. I call his bet. Next card comes out. Nothing that dangerous. Just a possible flush draw. He bets me again. I raise him by 3X his bet. He calls. River comes out. He bets and puts me all in. Since I already had most of my money in the pot, I call. The little bastard got trip queens on the flop!! After that I had to resist every urge to curse my bad luck and was forced to go home having lost quite a bit of money.

Thunder,

This is why I place such a high value on LS and the floating advantage theory.

Hope you can recover from that bad experience. I think you can. ;)

I always respect my prey, a great deal, and when I get ready to pounce and my nostrils begin to flare, my heart begins to pound, my pupils dialate and my lips retract and expose my fangs, I check myself, discipline and caution once again reigns, until the time is truly right for.... the kill.

Yeah LS would have been VERY helpful but unfortunately there aren't any shops in AC that offer it unless you're playing at the high roller table. As you said, sometimes you just have to take a break and cool off before you get tempted to do stupid things like chasing your losses.

BTW, what is the floating advantage theory? I looked it up but couldn't find anything on it relating to blackjack.

It is a Don S. and Arnold S. thing, and I agree with it.

Don writes about it in his latest book. You really have to read the chapter to fully understand it.

Any idea if they sell it at Barnes and Noble or other book stores? I was highly disappointed when I went there last time and found only two books which covered blackjack and none of them were the must haves (Wong, Snyder, etc) and were mostly fluff.

If you threw down that kind of cash on one spin of the wheel (remaining trip BR after an epic defeat at the tables), then I imagine you either have a severe temper issue or you're spreading blacks on blackjack. If it's the former, don't play any more until you can work this out. If the latter, why worry when you take a massive beating? If you're playing for these kind of stakes, you must be playing rated (I can't imagine the casino tolerating you otherwise), and nothing looks better for a rated AP than a massive red mark on their blackjack records. If your game is up to speed and you're confident in your ability, then embrace the negative variance and know that, now that you have that out of the way, you can probably look forward to your next positive swing.
