Of the 4 "dealt" Royals I have had.......the machines just "lockup"

The odds of that are once every 649740 hands! So ballpark, that puts you at 2.6 million hands...actually, I can see that. You're sick man

Never played much VP. I did once have a hand of holdem where if the ten had come, I would have hit the royal AND another player would have hit the queen high SF. Unfortunately the 45:1 shot didn't hit.

I hit a Royal within the first few hours of ever playing VP. Hardly ever played again and went out ahead - did play recently for like half an hour and won 20 bucks :)

Funny thing was, when I hit the Royal, a lady right next to me hit the jackpot on Video Keno not 5 minutes before me. Guess the good vibes were spreading.

Did you imagine the sacred flow and good vibes were limited to the blackjack tables?

Nyne , I can't really say i have played that many hands over the years...Hmmmmmm let's see 670,000 hands 1000hands/hr 640 hrs times 4..........2500 hrs of play...Actually 1000 h/hr is to much,,,,,prob 600 average takin account of slow machines...
So 4,000 hrs maybe??? Hmmmmm. 500 8hr days...... First time I've ever thought about it....I guess its possible....But I 'm thinking probably not....Maybe a little positive fluxuation.
Oh yea and 1 was on triple play and one on 5 play!!!
Aslan,,,,,,nope no vp for me, haven't played much for many years. Kinda makes me puke anymore.....
Hmmmmm is this math rite?? Tired yet

I have been looking over machines now with a view toward finding ones that can be beaten, keeping your exploits ever in mind, but frankly I don't know how to go about it. What would machinist do? I only wish I knew. Do you have to play some of them (shudder) or can you pick them out just by reviewing their rules? Are there any which respond to special maneuvers such as holding down a button or two, or some other non-intuitive tactic? I know a guy who once had a way to freeze a jackpot one wheel at a time. But eventually they (the evil empire) caught onto his procedure, which included some kind of gizmo, and put him out of business. lol So I continue to wander around the world of millions of slot machines wondering if one will ever reach out and tap me on the shoulder, or I receive some divine revelation, "PLAY ME!" but alas, so far the only clues I have are what you already so kindly taught me. I feel like the ancient Hebrews wandering around in the desert, when one day God said, "Strike this rock," and water poured forth. So now I am praying to machinist, god of the slot world, "Oh, mighty machinist, whereforth art thou, oh, miracle worker of the iron one-armed desert? PM me whereforth I shouldst goest? Pray thee help me to pin the tail on this elusive donkey!

Aslan......I just am picking myself off the floor.....LMAO.....Oh if it was only that easy!!
The honest truth right now is machines suck.....The one I told you about is the best out there right now. They are few and far between.
Also there aren't millions of machines.....Kinda like McDonalds.....same menu in evry store.
Wouldn't it be nice for me to be able to shoot you a list and say "play away and you will win"......As Sagefrog will attest to, it ain't that easy. Especially when just starting out and understanding the mechanics of machines.
Even the machines I have told you about I'm sure you have no idea how to pencil out the math on how and why they can be beaten.
Come to a Bash .....sometimes I take a bit of pitty on mmmmmmmm.....what's the word I'm thinking of???? ,,,,,,,,seniors maybe.....:).....old guys relative to my age......
There are no secrets to give away....just an understanding of what makes a beatable machine.
Funny you should mention pushing buttons on machines in sequences and such,,,,there have been a few of those over the years....sadly I found out about them after the fact....:(

lol Aslan, ("neo" -phyte), nomad of the machine world, all you wrote above is right on far as where i'm at. i've yet to caught a fish on my own, just been surviving on the fish Macho has tossed my poor wretched senior soul, lol.
but you are coincidentally, or maybe it's by synchronicity your writing above denotes the same juncture in thoughts and analogy that i'm at. and well, i think that's good, it shows we are thinking, searching and arriving at a mind set that just might turn us into fishermen rather than merely fish eaters, lol.
but anyway i was just getting ready to post my voodoo thoughts on this perplexing challenging issue that you brought forth.
me thinks it's not just machines, Aslan, nay, more than that it's a mind set that's seeking a way to eeek out an existence in the wild casinodom.
by analogy just like this barrel cactus makes it's living on a rock:

maybe if we could read those ancient writings on the rock face the secret to surviving in the desert would be described to us, lol.
what ever, life finds a way, doesn't it? and it's serious business, say if you are a cactus making a living on a rock. it ain't about gambling, it's life and death man. again, whatever, jus me maybe, in my quest to learn how to fish, my mind keeps coming back to analogies of how nature works ie. the wild casinodom and the wild kingdom. but not just that cause the wild casinodom is a matter of not just nature but the affairs of man, so we got complicated, convoluted cultural practices to unravel.
here's in part where i'm at with machines, i like you, know some machines that can yield an advantage. so i'm thinking in general how is it and why is it that those particular machines can give me an advantage as opposed to the other types. so you are gonna want to look for machines that have those general characteristics, machines that have similar attributes that point to information you can use to gain an advantage, sorta thing.
and then as Macho alluded there are ways to pencil the ev out, maybe you gotta make some assumptions but you can pretty much figure it out, sorta thing. same sort of approach we make for blackjack.
it is possible Aslan, we just can't do it yet, lmao. don't give up, lol, come to the bash and learn more, where people eking out a living in the wild casinodom can share culture as to how it's done.:)

video poker games?

I didn't hit royal last week when playing vp but would like to pose a question. Are the majority of you playing job games or other? I didn't find any 9/6 job the closest I came was 9/5. I find the dd bonus poker has better paytables and alot of them had high enough progressives that made it well worth playing. I'm going to go out on a limb here but since vp is my mistress don't tell bj I'm playing her.

Jim, most of my vp play was 9/6 JOB, and NSU Deuces. Some Super Aces, and bonus poker. JOB has the lowest fluxuation/variance.
FWIW.......and I'm serious,,,,you need to check every dam machine in your joint. I cannot tell you how many times I have seen only 1 machine in the whole place that has the full pay schedules on it.
You need to get familiar with full pay schedules ...write them down and put in your wallet. I used to all the time. Now I just pull up WOO on my phone and check any pay schedule I need.
Oh yea and don't forget Pickem Poker...and VBJ

I've had so many RSF's I can't remember how many. I can't believe I've actually played 40,000 games for each. A few times I did do damage to my bankroll from this nasty habit, but I did win some RSF's in some very critical situations, like the night at planet hollywood when I was $2,000 behind for the trip and switched to a 50 cent-er by which I recouped my entire trip loss late that night before my trip back home.

Nowadays, I throw a hundred or two at the machines, depending on what level I'm playing-- a hundred dollars won't go far on a $1 machine. It serves as a good respite from blackjack play. When I get bored or sleepy from VP, I am usually in the right mood to hit the tables again.

Hint: If you don't get tired of VP, don't play. It's nice to take a shot at, but it can have a voracious appetite. One time you may hit three in a row within a short period; the next time may be 160,000 pulls from now. It only seems to obey the law of large numbers, so if you want to be sure to break close to even, you may have to play a few million or a billion hands. Yeah, a billion ought to do it. But at a billion, being within 0.46 percent accuracy may leave you completely penniless... unless, of course, you maintain the requisite bankroll. (1,000,000,000 X $1.25 X .0046 = $5,750,000; or $23,000,000 for $1 VP)

Aslan......I have never played a losing game of vp.........ever....all play was either huge club card cash back, promos for drawings for cash and or cars, vehicles, or bounce back mailings.
Just like blackjack......pencil it out first. If it doesn't figure on paper, it certainly will be hell on a bankroll.
