It's looking like i'll be going to a conference being held at caesars later this summer. Looking at google maps and using expedia it looks like Treasure Island is the only place within walking distance that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Does anybody have any other suggestions. Or can somebody tell me if there are trams or free shuttles available from other places so that i wouldn't have to worry about walking. Having never been to vegas i figured this would be as good a place as any to ask.
TI is nice, but beware of the resort fee ($20/night + tax), as they have the highest resort fee on the strip. When I was there end of last year, they didn't charge me any, because I purchased my vacation in advance, before they had resort fee. But I don't think there's any way you can get away with it now.
Its location is a little bit north, but it's very close to some other nice hotels like Wynn, Palazzo, Venetian, and Mirage. There's a free tram from TI to Mirage, so that might make your walk to Caesar's a little bit easier. There's also a Walgreen's right across the street from TI, which might come in handy.
The casino at TI was pretty dead when I was there, but Mirage's casino was bustling. And as far as I've read, it's rated very well for its blackjack. So, if you stay at TI, you might want to play at Mirage, which is very convenient with the free tram.
If I go to Vegas again, I'd probably choose Mirage, but TI is ok too, except the ridiculous mandatory rip off fee.
