Despite many well-publicized settlements and large jury verdicts for casino abuse of patrons, casino security still doesn’t seem to understand the basics. Of all the casino security stupidity I’ve personally encountered over the years, and of all I’m aware that has happened to others, the one at the Cannery ranks among the stupidest.

They (Cannery guards) finally announced clearly that I was being detained and I was not free to go. Two of them were openly armed. I asked the grounds for my detention. They said it was because I was taking pictures. I asked whether they had reason to think that I had committed a felony, which is the only suspicion that triggers their authority to detain. Yes, I was told–taking pictures. I asked, incredulously, “You think that’s a felony?” The guy said, “Yes, it’s a violation of our policy”–as if that’s the same thing.

The writers at (Dead link: http://www.PokerGrump.com) and http://www.vegasrex.com have done such a good job of chronicling the moronic behavior of both the guards and the police officers, there is not much to add except I hope the Cannery victim sues and receives a large amount of money from these jerks.

As for the idiotic guards at Stratosphere, we can only hope that someone with a functioning brain at the Stratosphere reads about the actions of the nitwit guard depicted below and fires him before he hurts someone. It seems to me that the economic situation has many casino employees on edge and on their worst behavior ever. The situation is ripe for someone getting seriously injured by these pinheads.

I particularly enjoyed going through all there was to offer on the "VegasRex" link. Some interesting stuff and some unique personal perspectives. This is well worth looking over and reading through.

A BJINFO member was harrassed by security at The Cannery recently also. After looking into some of the things being said about this place, their treatment towards patrons in general is horrid. The VegasRex article link entitled "It's the economy" says a few things in general in a nutshell about Vegas casinos and also makes me think of many other casinos elsewhere, such as the huge Harrah's empire (that doesn't give a rat's ass about their players, the ones that bring in the $). "WE ARE THE LARGE, MIGHTY HARRAH'S AND WE DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU ONE BIT AND WILL TREAT YOU LIKE A BUNCH OF CATTLE--DON'T LIKE IT? GO SOMEPLACE ELSE... WE DO NOT CARE... FOR WE ARE THE MIGHTY HARRAH'S".

They have me sold with that attitude, so I avoid all the Harrah's owned casinos if I can. Other players that used to play at Caesar's before it was owned by Harrah's bitch about the decreased comps, the lost in the shuffle, the poor attitudes of employees toward their players, etc. This sounds more like a casino issue rather than an economic issue since these people are still playing in Atlantic City but not neccessarily at Caesars or any Harrahs owned casino for that matter!

Pour over the VegasRex stuff... it's not only informative but very "point blank" with lots of humor and sarcasm tossed in for good measure! I truly enjoyed it.
