I like Blackjack Bluebook II a lot. Maybe because i use Renzey's stage III kiss count. Zen will tell you that book is OK. But I would recommend it

You really don't need any more books for basic to advanced counting - that is the A-list. The B-list is long.

Get Uston on BJ by K. Uston, its a classic.

One of the best AP books I read in years recently was Bob Dancer's Million Dollar Video Poker - it doesn't teach any BJ (nor VP for that matter) but its really excellent.

Beat The Dealer by E. Thorp is required reading.

Barfy's You've Got Heat is good, and I'm hearing good reviews of Snyder's new Big Book of BJ.

The DVD 'The Hot Shoe' is good.

If you ever plan to play tournaments Wong's Casino Tournament Strategy is a one-of-a-kind.

Grosjean's Beyond 21 is also one-of-kind

B-list sampling -

Two Free Online BJ Books -
Clark Cante's 'BJ Therapy' (quirky)
http://www.bjrnet.com/archive/BlackjackTherapy.htm
TH Systems (valid, not better)
http://www.bjrnet.com/thop/T-H_Basic_Blackjack.zip
Wong's Pro BJ (too many charts)
Blackwood's Play BJ Like a Pro (over-emphasizes HO2)
Renzey's Blue Book (little thats new)
Scoblete's Best BJ (decent)
Carlson's BJ for Blood (betting sytem out-dated)
Uston's Million $ BJ (good stories, too many charts, advanced system overly complicated))
Wong's BJ Secrets (fodder for ideas but old tricks)
Anderson's Burning the Tables ('ultimate gambit' is too restrictive)
Malmuth's BJ Essays (Definitive text on Cut-Off Tracking)

What system are you using? zg

I just bought "You've Got Heat" and "The Hot Shoe" off of this site. I suppose I will have to look elsewhere for the others.

ZG,
Have you read Angie Marshalls book on blackjack? As a beginner,I thought it was quite helpful.
Not to hijack the thread, but I figured I'd read one more BJ book before my trip.
Blackjack Bluebook or Blackjack Zone. Anyone have a reason why I should read one before the other?I thumbed thru BJ Anylasist, but it wasn't for me,yet.

I only sped-read Marshal's book. Zone is a book you SHOULD buy... and then give to somebody you care about (for BS beginner). Bluebook is decent, but nothing really new (but I also only sped-read that one too). zg

I started out by reading Beat the Dealer. While it got me interested,it was pretty dry and a bit too technical. A friend lent me Angies book and one by Jerry Patterson and I found them much easier to understand, and follow thru on.But I did waste alot of time checking out ashtrays at various tables.

I had trouble using Patterson's theory in my local casinos since they don't allow smoking. What am I to do???

Smoke the book.

I agree with ZG's list and comments. A few additions:

Blaine's Blackjack Blueprint
Griffin's Theory of BJ (If you want to go that deep.)
Zender's Advantage Play for the Casino Executive (for the other side)
There are new books coming out on tournament play that will obsolete Wong's book.
