I'm assuming the variation is much wider with the second, exponential, system. But any opinions on it? Is it better than my linear betting system? Wouldn't the risk of ruin be much higher for the second system? Does anyone have any other true count betting systems?

Well if you're only spreading 1-5 then I hope you're playing 1-2 deck games. The other strategy looks like 6-8 decks. Really the only difference is the bet spread. He can't spread 1-16 linearly. Personally I always like to have my max bet at +4 true count. September 28th, 2005 12:25 PM phusers Using the Hi-Lo count, my betting strategy for each true count:

This discussion underscores the continued frequent confusion regarding "spread" versus max bet. The difference between optimal 2D and 6D betting is the spread... BUT NOT THE MAX BET! Spread is calculated from the top down, not the bottom up.

Example -

1D
Max - 100
min - 25
spread - 4x

2D
Max - 100
Min - 15
spread - 7x

6D (play-all)
Max - 100
min - 5
spread - 20x

6D (wong)
Max - 100
min - 20
spread - 5x

Are we clear? zg

Do casinos exist where one can spread 15-100 on 2 deck and 5-100 on 6 deck without camoflauge? I'm not asking for specific casinos, but just whether or not that is a realistic spread.

Yes there are if you limit your sessions to about 1 to 1 1/2 hours max. I'm not sure about a $5 table, but I've spread from $50 to $1000 on higher tables playing 6 deck. As far as 2 deck I've spread from $10 to $500 in a certain casino in Kansas City, but I only play 45 minute sessions there. Never had a problem yet. Its rare, and I wouldn't make that a regular practice for every casino, but there are sometimes when you can find the right place and situation.

Absolutely! There is this casino I go to with max bets of $100 so I spread from 5-100 easily, especially with other ploppies always putting out the max bet at the table the casino doesn't even notice you! At Slots-of-Fun I spread from $1 to $150 but always leave after that shoe. In another casino I was spreading from 5-300 without any heat, however other players at the table would point out after going from $300 down to $5 that I should've left my big bet out when getting the blackjack!

Wow. a 1-60 spread.

It also helps if you raise your bet and make it look like a steam raise. Say the dealer just ripped two 5 card 21's with "bust" cards up. Slam your chips in for the big bet, the casino will think you're just getting emotional and chasing losses.
