Speed Count

#1
Hi all, i jsut started reading up on card counting, and i got the BS down and i can go through 2 decks in about a minute. I heard a lot about a new easier method of counting called SPEED COUNT. I'm not sure how it works but i think it uses only positive numbers, (which would make things a lot easier). I think the seminar is like $900 and i wasn't able to find anything about it for free on the net any body know anything about it?

this is my first post. Its nice to to find a place where people with the same interests can talk and discuss. Have any of you ever been barred from a casino?

also i live in ohio, so the nearest casino is in niagara (i think) Any of you guys recommend any particular casino? i used to go to casino niagara but they have those damn impossible to count card shuffles.

What count are you currently practicing with? 2 decks in 1 minute (and therefore, one deck in 30 seconds) is a pretty respectable time.

General consensus on the speed count is that the advantage is very very weak, and the variance higher than even regular counting, so it's not particularly recommended. The most popular "easy" counts are KO, Red 7, and KISS (no particular order). And hi-lo is sort of the baseline for all counting.

The Seneca Niagra casino uses 8D shoes. I didn't pay attention to their shuffle procedure, but if you can count 1 deck, you can count 8 decks, you just have to make sure you don't forget your spot.

Greaser, about your inquiry of gambling near Ohio...

It sounds like you are more or less in the Cleveland area, so I don't know if driving down to the Argosy outside of Cinci works for you...but the last few times I've been in town and went there, the conditions were better than the Detroit area. It's probably 3 1/2 - 4 hours from C-Town.

while speed count might be easy, you won't find anyone on here recommending it --- for good reason. only counting positive numbers won't give you enough information. if you're going to invest the time and energy in learning to count cards, then you should at least learn a system that will give you an edge.

please please do not go to a $900 seminar about some crappy "system." there are countless people on here who could help you with any number of questions you might have about learning to count that would be a better use of your time and won't leave you with some false sense of having an edge while playing BJ, when you really don't.

start digging around using the "search" feature up above, and see what has already been discussed about "speed count"

as EasyRhino mentioned above, there are much better systems that are still easy to learn and use.

Right now I'm using the standard Hi-Low system. I've also know KO since they are both very similar. I do live in the cleveland pittsburgh area. not really sure where the nearest casino's are. all we have are race tracks and slot machines across the west virginia border.

If you can handle hi-lo, there's no reason to downgrade to speed count.

However, one thing that I'm horrible at is deck estimation (which is why I use an unbalanced count). It would be worth getting 8 or more decks of cards, and breaking them down and marking them in such a way that you can test yourself on estimating the number of decks that are discarded visually.

Ohio county approved table games (wheelingdowns) poker should be available by labor day and black jack and craps by October. you know what that means. A bunch of slow Noob dealers!

I have trouble counting when the RC is negative, at least, I don't seem to count as fast as when it's positive. I shifted my IRC from -28 in KO to +12 and have not had any trouble since. The count has never gone negative, although once it dipped to +2. My KC became +34 and my +PP became 44. For what it's worth, it's made counting a lot easier for me.

What is this based on? I can't find anything about it with google?
Last week, WSAZ out of Charleston. Their opinion is that because it's been kicked BACK to the individual counties, no-one seemed to know what was going on. If Wheelingdowns is claiming to have everything up and running by this fall, they're farther ahead than the rest of the pack!

But, they very well might be, with everything hanging daily I'm going with the philosophy that when the first card is dealt, THEN I'll believe W VA now has table gaming:rolleyes:
