Was there a counter convention in AC on Tues?

Lot of heat today. Some other counter at my table got restricted to playing only one hand. After that I just left...I shouldn't have stayed as long as I did too, but I felt unsatisfied.
 
A friend of mine was there today and told me two PCs were verbally harassing a couple of counters with lines like "isn't it time to raise your bet?" and "let's see what you can do with a 50% cut."
 
I never thought I would use cover plays in AC, but now I am seriously considering it because I would like to play there often. I took an insurance bet when the pit was looking and even though the count didn't warrant it, the dealer ended up with BJ. I had never been more upset to win money.

BTW, I think those 4Deck games have to last to Feb. because of the Million Dollar BJ tourney they are hosting. I also wonder if they will still give you a discounted admission to this tournament if they tag you as a counter. I want to keep racking up points for free admission, but I don't see my players card working much longer without getting a lot of heat.
 
omg, so about tuesday, except tuesday being this tuesday, i was hitting up the 4 deckers, and i sat down and these old peopel were talking about counting cards! they were like, oh its really easy they just do tis +1 -1 thing. and the other guy was like, i think the casinos know about it but they just dont care, i sure wish i was that smart though... I sat and played wih them and they ran away because i played one hand then two hands then no hands etc... and i was bad for the flow. Then i sat at another table, and a completely different group of old men were talking about the same thing!

I just know somebody was a counter and probibly got bounced a half hou before i got there. Also what do in a situation like that? i mean, i really dont give a **** about being caught anymore since they dont really seem to care EVER in ac, but, i coul just see it unfolding like this..."when your counting cards they make odd plays...kinda like that guy next to us, in fact this guy next to us kinda looks like a card counter" of course they would say it in full view of the PC

So who got bounced this morening at around 2pm?
 
I don't see how you could possibly wong when there are only 4 tables offering this stellar game. I imagine it would be crowded.

That's a tough question and I think everyone has their different ways of handling things. When something like this comes up and I'm around I always like to play it off, mostly saying things like:

"You can't count a 6 deck shoe, its impossible."

I actually have a family friend who that's what his response was to me when he found out I counted cards. He still insists that because they use 6 decks its impossible. So I just use that.

I was there a little later in the afternoon, yesterday. I played about 45 minutes until the tall, thin bald PC recognized me from the previous week and that was that.

They seem to be half-shoeing for just about any bet raise, counter-related or not. They are probably losing money on these tables with their excess paranoia.

I'm done with that game. It's just not worth playing.

I felt like I was playing unnoticed today for a decent while. Out of nowhere in a good count the dealer does that preferential shuffling crap. I was so pissed off because I was down about 60 units and had won the two previous hands of a max bet.

The people at the table were like, "did the shuffle card come out yet".

Dealer says "no, but it wasn't a good shoe anyway."

Now I think I was the only one who knew that it was a bunch of bs.

Not going into details, but I decided to say something...which I shouldn't have...and he simply told me that he was instructed to shuffle. I just left after that and played elsewhere.
 
Went yesterday afternoon and came back tonight . . . all four tables absolutely packed during several walkthroughs on all shifts (except this morning when they only opened two tables) . . . and I thought everyone would be out retailing :flame:
 
I played there recently and I had a lot of fun. I was looking to see if there were any other counters there but there defintiely weren't any at my table.
 
If the casinos in AC hope to make a decent profit, the one that opens the most BJ games with liberal rules will be the most successful me thinks as slots aren't.' going to cut it anymore with all the competitions. I made a point of telling the pitboss when I was strolling through www on the way to Caesars after he asked me if I'd like to play at a table, that until their games improve, I will be giving the Trop my business.

Good ideas. The slot banks are desolate in all of the stores and the marketing going on seems like they are trying to court table game players, but you can be sure there are still casino managers that would rather lose the casino's money than admit they were wrong to concentrate so heavily on slots as has been done in the past 10 years. They can never compete for slot players with the slots-only facilities that didn't exist back when this decision was made.

The 4D games are quite the daring move for the uniform and uninspired AC stores. Surprised they didn't show up in the high-limit rooms first, to attract some large action.

And for God's sake if they want clientèle other than locals and lower class bus patrons to show up at their casinos they need to get some decent transportation into the city! I would happily pay $100 each way to fly on a commuter plane into the city or $50 for a train, instead of the long and gruesome drive through NYC traffic or the miserable bus.

No counters definitely at your table? Great! I believe you, and you're very lucky. Good timing is everything. Unfortunately I can not say the same. An albatross had been hung around my neck in 2 casinos.

Hilton (some months ago):
An albatross had landed at my table. As I milked away a deep-penned 8 decker for hours, a baldy jumped in playing with red chips. Shortly thereafter, Pitboss Harris ordered the dealer to cut off 7 of 8 decks! I left Hilton in a lightning speed.

Tropicana (Recently):
The same albatross had also landed at my table. As always I milked away a 4deck game for a while, the same baldy jumped in and attempted to play 2 hands with red chips. Pitcritter Joe yelled at him: ""Herb", one hand only!" The Albatross finished up the shoe at my table, then he jumped among the 4 tables. Joe just halfshoed all 4 deckers. I left the pit quietly.

Hey APs, here is a question for you. Do you prefer to milk & perserve a good game... Or... do you prefer to "herb" & ruin it for all other milking APs?

If another counter can jump into this game playing 2 hands, that means the tables are not quite as crowded as everyone is making them out to be.

Are they still cutting off only 1-1.25 decks? If so, that is a pretty solid game.

Do you guys think they will tolerate a spread of 2x1 unit to 2x16 units?

OK. I didn't observe any bad pen at the games and I didn't get any heat. But I only played a few shoes. The thing is I play very little blackjack in Atlantic City, mostly blackjack derivatives and carnival games. So who knows what the Trop's management thinks of me? What I do know is when I sat down at a non-BJ game in the same pit as the 4D shoes, all the suits came over to watch me. Then after they left there was no heat at all anywhere in the pit.

I also didn't notice any counters at those tables and that's intentional on my part. Don't want to inadvertently mess with anyone at their game.

Other item: I went to the Atlantic City News, that store on the corner of Martin King Boulevard and Pacific that's embattled with the incoming Pinnacle over real estate. In addition to the porn and disease in a back room, they do have some interesting gaming books in there. I got Griffin's Extra Stuff addendum to Theory of Blackjack and the Dustin Marks book on cheating. They had a weird book called The S.E.X. Blackjack System which looked like a basic card counting book disguising itself as superstition-based system so people will buy it. (Reminds me of that classic movie "Christmas in Connecticut" about a doctor who moves to a rural town where the people don't believe in doctors but they will patronize quacks, so he starts practicing out of a butcher shop pretending to be a butcher pretending to be a doctor.) Some books of more or less validity on other games; poker, hearts, spades.
