Sure FLASH, I have to go back to my library later and read... so give me a bit of time. I'll let you know when I find it. Can someone here save me some time and quote the book, thanks in advance.
EDIT: I'm driving through this crummy snow and it just occurred to me. I may be in error. If my vision of the page is correct the statistic I quoted is from Snyders ST Cookbook where he states that only 1% of all players learning how to ST will actually succeed with it. I will still investigate the cc % I quoted.

Every one that plays a decent ammount of time and regularly will be and if they arent yet time will catch up. Sure maybe a bs player who goes once a year and plays for 15 min could be up but i am not including them.

My memory hasn't failed me yet. :grin:
The first book I picked up, on page 57 of Snyder's ST Cookbook he writes,
"Despite the publication of this series on shuffle tracking, the vast majority of players will never be able to track shuffles. Only about 1% of the bj players who fancy themselves card counters are actually proficient enough with a card counting system to beat the casinos. I'd be willing to bet that only about 1% of these capable card counters will learn to successfully track the complex one- and two pass shuffles that exist today."

Hate to nit-pick too but.... if Tarzan said that, he got it right.
The cost of the 6-5 rule is 1.40%. That's by how much the HA will increase from whatever it already was without the rule.
Check your figures. If you have any.

But Kasi is also right, the 1.4% is just for the 6:5 payout in and of itself.

I really enjoy reading NotTooShabby's posts... I mean I REALLY enjoy reading NotTooShabby's posts. I have difficulty in recalling what I read in them is all...
I have been in Atlantic City the last two days. Something Vic pointed out and he's right--- A lot of people are there at the casino for entertainment's sake. For them winning/losing/turning any profit comes secondary to being entertained. Casinos need these people and they are also the people that don't care about any added casino advantage, so I watched the casinos entertain the hell out of these people in the last few days!
Many of the people that go to casinos simply don't look at things the way I do or as most of you here do. I am looking at a profit margin at the end of the month, end of the year, etc. and attaining reasonable profitability comes first with me above all else. Don't get me wrong... I love the game (because you have to truly love the game to put the time and effort into it that I have) but I don't love the game so much that I would play 6 to 5 blackjack or do anything that would jeopardize that all important profitability margin.
So simple a 5th grader can do it? I think that would be the most intellectually gifted 5th grader going that I have yet to meet. Mastery of the game of blackjack? There is so much to learn, to study, to evaluate about it right along with the wisdom and intuition that is only gained from real time experience at the tables. All this time, all these years and in my opinion I fall considerably short of the mark of mastery of the game. I want to learn clump tracking/shuffle tracking and have been working on this with little in the way of concrete, positive results. When I have guests at home I do this thing in which I flip through 6 decks and then when getting down to the last 10 cards or so, tell them what they are prior to flipping them over. I can do this but I can't watch a shuffle and figure out where the cards are going? Given another 100 years or so I bet I can master this game! I don't think I have another 100 years is all and I doubt I will ever attain true "mastery" of the game, getting my PHD in blackjack but I am still working on it---That's why I hang out with you guys!

Yes the 6:5 BJ payoff costs 1.4%, but that needs to be added to the "of the top" Casino Advantage.

Who'd a thunk you'd add the effect of one rule to another. I should have said "That's by how much the HA will increase from whatever it already was without the rule." in Century Gothic point wth over-sized font and used some colors and underlining so you wouldn't feel the need to repeat the obvious. And with so much sarcasm too.
I know that knowing that must be a triviality for a guy who already knows the other set of rules that Tarzan was referring to that comprised a 0.4% HA without 6-5 even though neither you nor he ever mentioned what they were.
How'd you know what they were again?

Edited to add, in fairness, as you suggest, often the other rules in a 6-5 BJ game are so favorable that the total HA isn't much more than 1.4% anyway.
