maybe I don't fully understand the technology, but it looks to me to be similar to mindplay. I dont see how either "is the end of advantage play if used legally" A computer is tracking your play rather than a human. It still will take a number of hands, perhaps shoes to determine if a player is moving his money with the count. So if you play anonymously and keep your sessions short, no difference. Now if they use this technology to signal the dealer and shuffle when each time the count goes positive, then that's a whole different story. They are crossing the line of whats legal. Of course it may take several court cases to stop that behavior.

And a human is monitoring and operating that machine. Even if the computer is working perfectly, the human behind it probably isn't. I agree with you that this won't mark the end of AP.

That's true, but it makes counter-catching trivial enough so that even untrained people can handle it, and it can be done objectively per a preset policy. Automatically measure the correlation between bet and count, if it's above "X" then toss them. No human needed really.
There are certainly ways around it, but it makes AP far more difficult, and risky.
Oh! With the everyday use of RFID chips the end of the AP will be here sooner than you think. The Comps as we know it would also be completely revamp. Next they will come after the BS player as they don't make any money for the casino. How they are going to do it may be still up in the air.

Not really. Barona is smart enough to realize that most counters aren't winning players so they aren't going to bar anyone that isn't costing them money. But if they think someone plays well enough to win say $100 an hour they will politely back them off and probably offer them dinner. Yes, hall of fame members are RFB.

It is also true that said amateur takes up a place at the table where a chronic loser could be sitting.
