was wondering if this might work. bring a hot chick with you to the casino, have her come join you at the table you are playing at right before the shuffle. during the shuffle have her lean into the dealer and say she likes deep penetration. :laugh:

ok i'm joking but yeah is it ok to ask for a better pen at places where the dealer sets their own?

I wonder what bringing Kolan to the table with you could do? Just have him talk to the dealer and they will be so messed up trying to decipher what he's saying they'd prolly forget to put the cut card in :laugh:

It sounds like a good idea, except it's probably negative EV when you factor in the plane tickets from Russia that you'd need to spring for lol.

And for future reference it's KOLAN, not Kolan lol.
 
haha my bad....was KOLAN at the BJ Bash? that woulda been a hoot.....just sick him on the pit bosses and they will just be giving chips away for you to take him back!

to answer your original question, I always ask for the pen I want ala Ian Anderson. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But it never hurts to ask.

It never hurts to ask? Any self respecting pit boss that hears this will almost instantly label you a counter non? How many ploppies do you at the end of a shoe asking to put the cut card in closer to the end so they can get more hands in/

I've never once seen a ploppy ask for the cut card to be placed further back.

However, if you're in a big joint where the floor person is a glorified secretary, and all backoffs are going to come from the eye observing your play, then asking has little/no downside and a potentially huge upside.

But if one of the floor person's duties is to identify potential counters, then I agree that this would raise a giant red flag.
 
Asking for more cards is asking for trouble. Getting creative about asking for more pen, a la aforementioned author will probably be seen more as superstitious nonsense than a sign of a skilled player.
 
understand. I was agreeing with you. To pull this off you have to look like some superstitious idiot. The places that know me think I'm pretty much a superstitious and reckless gambler.

A big joint may have 60 or more tables going, thousands of slots and just a handful of eyes, looking down the blouses of a few good looking women on the floor, working in surviellence. Unless you are the unknown whale in the joint, there is no one in the eye watching you at all!!!
That is till that so called "glorified secretary" gets a little suspicious and makes a call upstairs. Once he does that, he will ignore you completely, but he is the guy who actually nailed you.
Asking has a HUGE Downside! Civilians never ask, newcomers to this site actually ask us what we mean by pen. Nobody cares about pen but counters, so pick the dealer who offers it but do not ask for it.

Cut it thin so we all can win

Just tell your wife or girlfriend to ask the dealer to cut it thin so we all could win.

If that doesnt help, give the cut card to her and as she places it just 1deck or less from the bottom, let her tell the dealer.... see... this is how it's done.... cut it thin too so we all can win. Now you try it.

The worst that will happen is they'll tap her out. :grin:

Actually civilians do ask. I play with guys all the time that aren't counters and they bitch at the dealer about the pen regularly.. (they don't call it pen). I had a guy I didn't know do it the other night.. and if he was counting, I couldn't tell.

I think a lot of civilians know that good penetration is good for them.

Myself, I never ask directly unless somone else brings it up.. :eyepatch:
