I would be very very surprises if this were true, MAZ. The hilton is quick to shuffle up and bet restrict the 6 and 8 deck games. If you are betting green at the $25 table and jump to black, it immediately draws their attention, so I can't imagine them allowing this senario to happen on the two deck game. As I posted, when I was there, there was no one playing and 3 pit guys watching the game. Imagine how many would need to watch the game if they actually had players. :laugh:
 
Machine shuffled double deck

Unless my memory has failed me (again), the El Cortez in Las Vegas has machine shuffled their double deck games for years.

What if these particular players don't waste time betting green. What if these particluar players are not your average counter, found a glaring weakness in this game, bet like savages due to the fact this game is probably not going to be around very long, and destroyed the game with the casino not being able to comprehend what was happening. Maybe the 3 critters hovering were licking their wounds waiting for these players to come back while the carnage was under review upstairs. What if the casino knew they were getting taken, but didn't know how? What if they shut it down due to all of this, would you be surprised? I mean I agree, a straight counter couldn't have done it.

I'd be more surprised if anyone else was the one telling this.
 
I doubt that anyone won any VERY large sums, as they are perfectly aware that they can easily STOP them by employing the same treatment that I get all over A.C. — the "bet restriction" counter measure; wherein a suit tells me that I am restricted to betting 1 spot from $5 to $50, while leaving the other players undeterred.

Of course they would do that to someone like you, you're a straight counter with a limited bankroll. Or at least you play like you do. My point being, if someone were to gain an advantage on a game that would take a while to be discovered, the casino would allow it. Are you telling me that no ploppy whales have had lucky days and beat the hell out of the casino on that day? Of course they have. So if you can take what at first glance seems to be a mediocre game, take advantage of what just happens to be a monumentous weakness, have no tendency towards a counters style of play, there is the chance with the right mix of bankroll, knowledge and balls, you will enjoy a righteous beatdown of the casino, at least temporarily. But if the game isn't expected to live long, thats all you need.

Suppose a ploppy whale heard about this game and got lucky. Should the casino bet restrict him before analyzing his play? If they do, they have no chance in recovering the money.

Flash, your probably aware of the mistake Donald Trump made in the early days of Plaza, watching a whale have an amazing run at Baccarat. He cut the the guy's table max in half. The guy got up and left, never to return.
 
The Hilton's BJ revenue was < 969 K in Dec.

They are sure to sweat anyone with purple chips who isn't a certified ploppy

As a point of reference, the Borgata's BJ tables generated revenue > 8.68 M

That is NINE (9) times as much !

I understand your point, MAZ, but yes I would still be surprised. Knowing the AC Hilton the way I do, I believe they would of shut the game down long before they lost 6 figures, whether they had figured it out or not. As others have mentioned they sweat big action and sweat losing. They are similar to El cortez in that regard. I am not saying it didn't happen, I am just stating that would surprise me. :eek: for the record, things surprise my all the time.
 
Abenzio.. If the casinos really want to have good table games and make money at the same time.. they should look into the Zender approach to the games. I have seen/played it first hand and it is good for everybody from civilians, to APs to the Casinos... The games are good, fast, fair, and stay packed and the dealers are happy and the PCs are more able to service the guests and not worry about some half *ssed card counter.

Dad, I agree. Zman is also my kind of guy. BTW, I will get back to you about setting up the Society of ###### APs. I'm dead serious.

I agree. One of the places I regularly play cuts off 1/2D from their 6D games. Last quarter they reported a 30% increase in profits.

I can believe it... it's really impressive in practice. If an AC store did that.. it would suck biz from all the others unless they followed suit..
 
This whole thing with Hilton reminds me of a used car sale in the paper. They advertise a vehicle for a certain price, but when you get there, that vehicle is gone and if you want one like it, you have to pay a higher price. :)
 
Where's the beef?

I wrote Flash a private email that I will not post here (divulging too much information), talking of AC stuff in general and of Hilton in particular. I liked Thunder's post using the used car advertisement comparison. From all I have seen, Hilton is hurting... they need some sort of promotional edge! Will they screw it up horribly and have anything they attempt go over like a lead balloon? OF COURSE!

I saw that Paris Hilton video... perhaps they are inept at doing anything beneficial for themselves without screwing it up totally gamingwise and their only hope is to have Paris Hilton herself offer BJ (no cards involved) to potential customers?
 
I am offering 11/10 odds that the January Hilton BJ revenue falls under $995,000

It wouldn't surprise me. Hilton used to have a good game, then they hire a "counter catcher" PC who gets the place paranoid about blackjack, so their games have gotten worse and worse, now most of their tables are usually closed and their hold is consistently dropping. What a genius this counter catcher is.

The pit closest to the Boardwalk is where they put all their 8D H17 games, and it's always empty. Maybe a couple of tables open with a couple of small betters. Their solution to this problem: make some of the games in the other pit 8D H17 too! Brilliant!
 
This game wasn't advertised or promoted anywhere to the best of my knowledge, so I don't think a ton of ploppies showed up exclusively to play this game.

But I wonder just what was the purpose of this fiasco. Was it a legit attempt that went wrong? was it a counter catcher trap? I, and I am sure some other, were hoping offering this game was a result of table games competition in near by states. Delaware due to start table games in March or April and Pa's once again ammended table games bill passed the state senate yesterday and is scheduled for a vote in the general assembly this afternoon, where they claim they still have enough votes to pass. The govenor wants to sign this bill tommorrow. So I guess only time will tell what the intentions of AC really are. :confused:

IF Hilton were smart

They'd advertise that Paris Hilton would be a guest dealer in the rotation at the high roller BJ tables.. They'd then open about 12-15 high roller tables to meet the increased demand. They could raise the limits based on demand. If they really wanted to get serious about revenue, they'd contact the tv networks such as GSN or ESPN about the possibility of having celebrity blackjack there, thereby further increasing their exposure.
