A pit boss says, we know you're counting, but we don't really care because we don't make commission.

Haha, this happened to me once at a casino I played at, but haven't been back there since.
I just played dumb.

I'd still avoid him. I am guessing you aren't betting big enough where you will not be a major concern in the near future. However, if you start building up your roll, he will become a threat. Hopefully by then he had forgotten you
 
Yeah, I just played dumb, never admitted to anything.
But the pit crew there is all around my age(Mid-late twenties).

I wasn't really too worried about it as I don't play there too often, nor have I won too much there. Was just curious as if to anyone else has gotten this and what they did/would do.

NEVER admit to counting, even if they say they know. They could be bluffing or testing you out. Regardless of how it ends, he knew enough that you were at least under suspicion.
 
ive been told very directly by pit bosses or dealers that they know I am counting, I just always tell them I dont know what they are talking about,

If they ask me whats the count, I generally ask them what that is and if they say nevermind I say "no, tell me" or "you cant ask me a question that doesnt make any since and then not explain it"
 
It's happened to me quite often at low stakes games. You can usually come back with a dumb look on your face and play it off. Higher stakes games I don't sit at very long to avoid the situation...
 
I wouldn't recommend denying knowing what card counting is--I think that's too obvious: come on, since Ed Thorpe's book came out in 1962, everyone who's in a casino and plays blackjack has at least heard of card counters (that's what makes blackjack the most popular table game in the casino).

I got asked by a dealer a few months back as I was trying to get up to max bets at TC+4 (he must have been counting while dealing obviously).

My response was (paraphrased) that "I'm not sharp enough to do something like that". Come up with your own version and commit it to memory--something like you're not a physics professor, etc.

Never admit to anything.
