I do not know current conditions but make sure you declare your money going into the country, and make sure they give you a document showing that you declared it. They have an ongoing scam where they don't give you the document and then when you leave the country they confiscate your money. When my brother went in he insisted on taking a photograph of the customs officer with the cash so he could prove he had declared it.
Not sure I'd want to play in Nepal, personally.
I'd only take a quantity of cash to countries I personally consider safe - e.g. USA, UK, Australia etc. Walking around with cash in Nepal is probably not the wisest decision in the world. And the whole having to declare and not declare would frankly do my head in.
