In Casino Player magazine there is an article on pages 26 & 27 by Henry Tamburin. In his Tip of the Month he states that you should hit a hard 18 against a ten card. I have never heard this before playing BS.Is this correct?

Tamburin’s Tip of the Month How Would You Play This Hand?
![]()
Your initial two-card hand was a soft 13. You hit three more times and you’re relieved that you have an 18, so you instinctively stand. That’s a big mistake. Basic strategy for a soft 18 against a dealer 10 is to hit, regardless if your hand is composed of Ace-7, Ace-3-4, or even the above five-card hand. You must be disciplined and follow the basic strategy if you want to be a successful blackjack player.

As the other reply noted, he's talking about soft 18, not hard 18. Big difference.

It's better to stand if dealt from single deck. Any other number of decks it's best to hit.

I was thinking that same thing! But this is a Tamburin column.
He should have had some identical cards out there to indicate it wasn't a SD game.
Wrong. Check the BS engine.
Is the BS engine here inaccuarte? I tried every rule combo for single deck and they all said hit soft 18 against 9 or 10. A few diff combos said to stand against an Ace.
That's according to the BS Engine on the column to the left.My friend you are wrong, if you take the hand composition into account is it slightly better to stand
And the other posters here are not talking about basic strategy. They're talking about the specific hand composition in his example. In single deck, all those missing deuces make standing slightly better. That's according to the BS Engine on the column to the left.
