Do they still offer the $1 blackjack? I thought I had heard it was moved up to $3 at some point. That dollar game was the first BJ game I ever played back in 2002. Good memories.
 
We stayed there on our very first trip to LV. Always will have a soft spot in my heart for the Sahara!:joker::cool:

An oddly themed casino: Desert + Cars. Never made much sense to me. $1 blackjack with poor rules, $3 craps with 10X odds. A few $5 blackjack tables, reasonable shoe games. A monorail stop. I wonder what will happen to the monorail stop.
 
Good riddance. They got what they deserved.

When are these casino mgrs going to realize that their 6:5 shoe games, crappy VP pay tables, etc. may fleece a tourist once and add to their bottom line short-term, but like most businesses, survive and thrive by repeat customers? Maybe after the entire strip is imploded...

I agree that greeedy casinos should go out of business because for poor business practices. I would like to see more tank and then maybe just maybe someone with a brain will take over and start to take care of patrons like when the mob ran the strip.

Just got back yesterday from a week in ol sin city...disgusting blackjack along with disgusting vp payouts as 21 mentioned. The garrish hotels are a slap in the face to the common vacationer..."look what we do with the money we steal from you"...they will get what they deserve-bankruptcy. Wont go back.

I have lived here since October. Because I have family and business interests in the St. Louis area, I'm moving back there soon. The casinos in St. Louis offer games and odds that are just as good if not better than most in LV. Moreover, Harrah's St. Louis charges a lower live poker rake than the Harrah's properties in LV. Harrah's St. Louis has 9/6 Jacks-or-Better and Harrah's LV has the crappy 8/5 version. There is no 6-5 blackjack in St. Louis yet.
This city is probably doomed. Casino bosses and city leaders think tourists will return when the economy improves. Wrong. They will come back to LV only if the casinos start offering odds that are better than those available in local casinos.

99% of the people who come to Vegas have no idea what the odds are supposed to be, and could care less if they were to told. They are here to see shows, volcanoes, fountains, attend trade shows, and get drunk for days at a time.
 
Partiers and High Rollers

Partiers may not know the odds, but if a high roller gets paid on his $500 blackjack $600 he will be out the door! He will notice that $150 difference. Many of the high rollers are educated and don't mind gambling but won't tolerate bing ripped off.

Average tourists may not have a conscious understanding of the odds. But they feel it in the pocketbook. Even slot players-perhaps the most uninformed casino visitors-realize the slots in LV are generally no looser than those at their regional casinos.
Resort fees, taxi ripoffs, and other dubious practices exacerbate the situation.

If you can find a resort destination with cheaper rooms, cheaper food and cheaper car rentals, please let me know.

It would be interesting to know what future plans might be in store for that excellent location.

Also, I am reminded that someone (I think Steve Wynn) was about to casino-develop all the land from the strip to and through part of Spring Mountain Road Chinatown, at least, until the big real estate bust hit Vegas. Does anyone know of any plans to continue that or any other project in that area. It was to be called "Dragon"-something.

Agreed. I've heard ploppies at the tables say their gambling budget doesn't last anywhere near what it used to. That's what they know.
