Casino tolerates counters?

I read a story of a casino, that after determining the player was counting cards, allowed him to continue playing as long as he kept the spread within certain limits. I think it was a 2D game, $25 minimum, and the player could spread X4. Have you ever seen this anywhere before?
 
If there were no god-awful rules to make it -ev to play this game without the threat of banning would you play it or stay with the game you now play including potential heat. I would camp out at this game.
 
Just saw an article on blackjack.org about Max. Says Barona "does not actively run card counters out of it's casino..."

I wonder if they still adhere to this policy.
 
I think this policy could be in effect in many places. They just don't advertise it. Some low level counter or a counter using a modest spread thinks he is flying under the radar, when in reality the casino is aware of him, just not that concerned at that level. Let him bump his limit or spread and now he is over the threshold that they find tolerable and they give him the boot.

Barona's web site claims the best BJ rules in the country. Anyone know what they are? (Site says it offers 1D, 2D and 6D.)

Yes, I have experienced that at 2 places for many years, keeping it cool, not being greedy, and slowly milking the casinos. I knew they knew because I read it on their computers and had many experiences where they warned me that I was crossing the line. But in the end both places came down on me hard for what I believe was their feelings that I had betrayed their courtesy.

100% correct! The move from green chips to black is when the intervention occurs. I have had properties comp airfare/suites/meals several trips but as soon as you take any real money..."sorry management has decided that you can contunue to play at table minimum and just one hand or play any other game in our fine casino except sp21."

That's funny, because when I was last there, there were signs prominently placed on every table saying "this game protected by (some software, I forget the name)"

They have all of the above. I only played 6D because they were dealing 50% on DD. SD (3:2) is in the HL room and is supposedly watched VERY closely. There is another forum member who told me a story about making a killing at that game. That's all I'll say about it, and he can post about it, if he feels it's appropriate.
 
If you come to a casino and take $25 an hour in EV and bring your friend who plays the nickel slots, the casino's still making money from both of you. Similarly, if you're winning $25 an hour in EV while there's someone flat betting purple, they won't want to back you off if that will also cause the whale to leave. If you win in blackjack and lose it back in other games, they'll let you play. Most places won't even watch someone betting red. But they know about the spotter/BP team approach, and someone flat betting the minimum who always has another person come in mid-shoe and bet purple at high counts only when he's playing will be watched.

In the "Playing Craps as Cover" thread, Flash said he was trespassed after winning $1,200 in blackjack right after losing big money in craps.

..hmm...:confused:
 
All of this is casino dependent, and it really varies. My personal experience is that most places besides downtown Vegas don't watch red chippers.

Given there seem to be different opinions and experiences perhaps this is the way to think about it?

Do you play like there has never been a barring, backoff or unpleasant backrooming?

or

Do you play as if these things have happened and can happen?

Ya! I can identify with that. I sure have given them ample opportunity to boot me in several places. Hey, I'm happy with the little bit I garner, and if they're happy, too, what could be sweeter! :)
