The extent to which the B in AC shuffles now, they must be strong believers in ST. AT may still be viable, but it would be a toss up in my opinion. I didn't give it a try, so I don't know for sure.I've heard that having the dealer do a quick shuffle cuts down on repetitive motion injuries from dealing. But who knows why they really do it?
Recently played at a house that first does a hand shuffle, then puts the cards into the ASM

Maybe casinos are paranoid over ASMs for a reason
Almost all of the stores around where I live will shuffle the cards AFTER they take them out of the ASM. I have two reasons why this might happen. The first is that either they want to show to the players that the machine is not rigged (unlikely), or they are just paranoid as hell (very likely). Also, games like 3CP always seem to get shuffled BEFORE they are inserted into the ASM. Really not sure why.
