Why ploppies exist in casinos

and the world around us. After much thought I've concluded that it is because the power of a dream no matter how unlikely that dream is, is so great that people will be willing to pay in some cases almost anything for a chance at that dream. Call it desperation, call it stupidity, call it unjustified faith, or hope but as long as the human race exists, there will be things like casinos to take advantage of people who believe in irrational dreams. Hope is a powerful force but not used wisely, can have deadly consequences. Are we better off living without hope and just pure rationalization? Some would say yes. Others would say no and that it can fuel progress. I'll leave that for you guys to debate.

A world 100% full of realists is not a world I would wish to live in.

Because certain people have heightened reward sensations to risk-taking and a belief in past events determining present ones, probably due to the peculiarities of brain receptors in gamblers and smokers, two groups which seem to have a large shared membership.

(I see oodles of people wearing oxygen tanks in casinos - coincidence?)
 
The gambler wants to have that big win. They want to make money and have fun at the same time. Irrational...I can't say that is true. Wouldn't you like to win Megabucks? Suddenly come upon $10 million dollars? How about a million? How about even $10,000?
 
Just look at the commercials the casinos show.

They show someone winning lots of money and having a great time.

Yeah, I tried to explain that to the shift manager while he was throwing me out. "But but but I saw people winning on your TV commercial!"

He still threw me out.

Well, I have a rational explanation for us Americans. We like to gamble, our country was founded because we gambled. It's in our blood. Casinos gamble, the patrons who frequent gamble, corporations and small businesses gamble, life is a gamble. There are a few of us who are smart enough to make an attempt to take any mathematical advantage we can (within or on the outside of law limits) and sometimes we win, and sometimes we lose. Yes AP is the smart way to go, but I hate to say this, you're still gambling, even with the little edge you obtain in the long run.
