Sometime ago in Vegas while playing blackjack, drinking, and acting somewhat drunk, I was befriended by a stranger at my table. This guy claimed to be from out of town as I was and seemed to be more than a little concerned about my welfare. I'm not especially outgoing, particularly when playing, so this really made me wonder if the guy was a casino employee sent to watch out for me. I've used this drinking cover a lot of times and never has anyone been concerned about my drinking. Have any of you ever heard or experienced a casino employee watching out for a drunk?

You don't mention if you are male or female ? Maybe the guy was just trying to pick you up for a date. He likely was a gay blade if you are a male.

I had a guy come up to me while playing a blackjack slot machine in planet hollywood a couple of years ago claiming to have knowledge of how to beat the machine. He was a personable Asian fellow and I let him, first, instruct me what to do, then later actually let him play the game directly. He lost my money, lol, a few dollars. I can only imagine that he may have figured if he won I would give him part of those winnings, although he did not seem the least bit needy.
People can be strange. I really don't have a clue what his angle was, if he even had one, but the human mind is also groping for an understanding of human behavior.
Today, I guess the Casey Anthony jury did not buy the prosecution's interpretation of her behavior during the time of her child's disappearance or murder. I didn't either. I am not one of those who say it is obvious she was guilty. Too many people charged with murder have been released due to DNA evidence for me to put much faith in a jury's ability to reason to the guilt of someone. Maybe this jury, devoid of DNA evidence, did not want to be guilty of one more wrongful condemnation based on purely circumstantial evidence. I don't know what it is, but the evidence in this trial just does not add up. Something is wrong.
It is also amusing that all the pundits are totally embarrassed that they called it so wrong. Judge Jeanine was saying, now we'll never know what happened, as if convicting the girl would have told us what happened. There seems to be a bias toward conviction-- it gives closure and people seem to want closure. If she did it, she'll have to live with that knowledge all the rest of her life. I've never been much for the death penalty anyway. Please excuse my ramblings.

That's an easy hustle. Tell a mark that you'll show them your "system" to beat a particular game (this is especially clever with something like a BJ slot machine because there will be no heat from the pit). After the mark agrees, play the game—the higher the variance the better, unless you're the sophisticated con-man with a reputation to uphold. If the mark wins a big payout, you're sure to get a cut; if not, you didn't lose anything. You can have the mark agree up front to pay you 10% or whatever "when" you win. It's a simplistic freeroll hustle.

I didn't either. She may have been guilty of terrible negligence, but to offer her only a 10-year plea deal or a showdown over 1st-degree murder meant that she had to win and she did. I think she was represented by Alan Shore. Three cheers for a rare intelligent jury. zg

I would not have agreed to risk serious money. What captured my attention was the possibility of learning how to beat the machine, and one's larceny (but in this case, lawful greed) is generally the bait used in all confidence games by an individual who has all the appearances of a trustworthy person. But as soon as I discovered he did not know what he was talking about, I left. So, he was taking a shot rather than working a sting type scam, since he had no closing unless I happened to get lucky and win.

I told him very seldom. He leaned over to me and said to play the favorites in a six team parlay in the NCAA and NIT basketball tournamants that were going on. He said the boys were all over it.
After playing I walked over to the sports book and looked at the teams playing. They meant nothing to me. I thought,"What the heck." and bet all six teams $11 to win, played a $5 4 team parlay of the NCAA teams and a $5 six team parlay.
I figured if at least 4 teams won, I'd collect $84 dollars for my $76 in wagers.
I didn't watch one minute of any game.
The next morning I went back to check the results. Not only did all six teams win, one covered the spread by one point and anothr game went into triple overtime and still covered. I collected over $900.
I hung around the casino of and on that day, but never saw him again.
I wanted to thank him, and ask him about today's games.
Thanks to him and betting on the 1991 Twins to win the World Series, I'm a lifetime winner betting sports.

I am a lifetime winner at roulette (5 spins, $3,000). I am wholly persuaded that the only way I will stay that way is to never play roulette again.
I tried to play glovesetc's (Marshall's) tips a couple years ago for a while but had trouble getting them down with a dependable bookie, and when I did, I didn't do all that well. I am definitely lifetime down for sports betting.

A straight, buddy, is the target is perceived as straight. And it surely isn't about "picking you up for a date". At least not a legitimate date. Hustlers are about one thing...relieving you of your money and/or belongings and Vegas is full of them, male, female, and in between. :laugh: Gay, straight, all colors, shapes and sizes.

In LV I seldom run into the pure "hustler" types in the casinos, mostly working girls, especially if I'm on a VP machine in the wee hours of the morning. I must look like I could use some company, as they say. :laugh: They all seem very nice, but I guess that's their job to play to male ego, but I wonder how they get so far gone. Drugs, I figure mainly. Also, quirky minds in some cases-- my wife ice skates with a stripper who has two Masters' degrees, never has money for needed medical purposes, but always has money to travel to Europe.
