Am I approaching this the right way?

I started playing blackjack a few months ago(the fact that you can control the outcome to an extent made the game more appealing than roulette). Basic strategy is second nature now and my counting is OK(i struggle when it's a fast dealer). I play the $2 tables where i flatbet until the count is at 2, then i bet $5 and spread that to a max bet of 30.

The rules are 4.5/6, DAS, D9,10,11. So my question is, can i beat the game with the spread i use?

You can only double 9-11? How many splits are you allowed? Surrender allowed? BJ is 6-5 or 3-2? Bankroll? I would say you are wasting your time with this game.

Being unable to double "soft hands", (and hard eights at times) is quite costly.

Well, where I live we have a whole 3 casinos. 2 use an ASM so penetration is 1-1.5 decks. This casino is the only one that is hand shuffled but it has the 9,10,11 double rule. split upto 4 hands, no surrender and 3:2 blackjack. I didn't think the double restriction would make such a big difference, but if it does then I guess I'll stop wasting my money there :|

That is probably why it has terrible rules. Some of the $2 games charge a $.50 commision per hand too.

I play at casinos that offer $2 and $3 tables with good pen/rules and no its not 1969.

There is nothing wrong with ASM games. Especially ones where they are only cutting out 1-1.5/6 decks. If those games have better rules and better pen then those are the ones you should be playing. Maybe I misunderstand what you are saying but you want to avoid CSM games......not ASM games.

I hear delaware casino on the Eastern shore has $2 on weekday mornings. I think it is Harrington Raceway. It is the one not in Dover.

Yea i meant to say £2 not $2, I'm in Scotland and every casino I've been at has had a £2 table and it's where most folk play. The rules at this particular casino don't differ for the £5 or £25 tables, so i can only double 9,10,11 regardless...

jay, it's not a CSM entirely, they don't reshuffle after each hand, they reshuffle after 1-1.5 decks so thats your pen. I actually played there quite a bit before I learned about penetration and bet spread and the highest TC i ever seen was 3...

So all casinos here have some kind of drawback, guess I'll have to retire :|

it's not a CSM entirely, they don't reshuffle after each hand, they reshuffle after 1-1.5 decks so thats your pen.

Okay now I'm confused. You said 4.5/6 for pen. If it's 6 decks and they reshuffle after 1-1.5 decks have been played that's not 4.5 pen, that's 1.5 pen. And that is a totally worthless game.

Good to know. I wasn't planning on going there because they don't have LS. Most of the stores around here do. $10 minimum works for me an I can find that fairly easily.

Following the advice here I stopped playing at that place (it seemed to be a gathering ground for a**holes anyway). I revisited a casino that used to have CSM to find they have switched to hand shuffling. The rules are 4.5/6, DAS and you can double any 2. I'm spreading in the same way as I described earlier:

<2 = £2
2= £5
3=£10
4=£20
5=£25
6=£30

Can i beat it with a spread like that? I'm certain I can spread more, the casino is small and the dealers are completely clueless.

The $3 Mississippi games I have seen have the restricted doubles and other bad rules. The only value I can see to these games is for a new counter to gain casino experience inexpensively.
