Gambling addicted bf

You can't unless he wants to. Same with any addiction. You won't find many gamblers on here. I spend hours in Casinos each week and I view it as a well paid hobby. I could walk away tomorrow without hesitation. There are helplines with trained addiction councillors that would be able to help you better.
 
Unfortunately, as Taff stated, you probably won't find much help here. This site is primarily comprised of Advantage Players (APs). Most successful APs typically have a completely different mindset compared to gambling patrons who might be struggling with addiction. Many of us are long-term winning players who only play when the edge is in our favor. Otherwise, I personally have no desire to be in or near a casino. Good luck in finding help for your b/f.
 
My advice -- don't give him the money, don't ever give him access to your money, and don't marry him until he has cleared his own debts and completed the treatment. Even then, I would re-think it very carefully!

you are lucky to know he's a loser and i'm sure you don't want to hook up with a loser.
there are plenty of fine fish in the sea. go find you one.

London's post wasn't there when i started posting, i'm a slow typer, but i did see it when i edited, just went ahead and left it up.
what the heck, it's a kind of an interesting topic. not so much addictive gambling but the act of gambling.

Now that the link is gone, that's a fair point.

When there is a cascade of replies to a spam post, I can't help but imagine the C.E.Os of the promoted business and the business hired to do the promoting, sitting behind their enormous desks, hands steepled, cackling, like Mr. Burns from the Simpsons.:)

I don't know the ins and outs of the dark art of 'Search Engine Optimization', but I think the intention behind a post such as this is not only to look real in order to avoid being deleted, but also to generate lots of replies in order to boost the rank of the page containing the link. In which case, when we reply we are being duped into helping with the promotional campaign.:mad:

I probably should learn to relax and not get such a bee in my bonnet about this kind of thing!
 
There are several wrong conclusions. One is that if you are an AP and winning, you are not addicted. You just think you can walk away, you are kidding yourself. At one time, my firned tried all kinds of drugs and he was an addict, now he sticks to one drug, marijuana, and he is still an addict. Some gamblers gamle away at ever game in the casino and some only gamble at BJ. So you win ($) in a casin0 but there are probably other things you are losing that you are too addicted to see. Some lose respect, others lose their kids and still others lose a normal life.

You can be addicted to other things whle still winning, be it pokeror golf or whatever,

Dont agree. I hate gambling. Don't much like casinos either. If everything went CSM tomorrow I would walk away. Up until 5 years ago, and a chance meeting I had never bet on anything in my life. My mentor told me it was my strongest asset. If I couldn't play with an edge I would never lay money on the felt again and wouldn't miss it at all.

I can relate to this. I was never a "gambler" before AP blackjack. Casinos never particularly interested me very much until I learned that I could beat them. And my feelings are the same... if all games became unbeatable tomorrow, I would no longer play.

Kind of like a cigarette addict saying he would walk away if there were no casinos, a golf addict saying he would quit if there was no golf.
