I just returned from a 4 day trip to Reno I stayed at Eldorado and play primary at the big three Eldorado Silver Legacy and Circus Circus as well as Cal Neva downtown. The best games in town are in Sparks At Western Village and at Alamo both allow double on any two cards single deck. I saw 70 percent plus on double deck a few places but mostly marginal pen on single deck. I'm assuming shoe games are your thing I remember Silver Legacy having a six deck shoe that allowed doubling on 3 or more cards a few years back don't know I'd they still have it as I only play single and double deck. Reno is great for me the pitch player but not so good for a shoe player as Las Vegas would have better options for that
I didn't see this until today. I actually thought about going there, but the time to do that is on the way in, going east on 80. Once I'm in town, the farthest I want to go is Atlantis.
I played double deck a bit at Silver Legacy. Their shoe games were not good. I was in Sparks briefly to check out the sportsbook at Baldini's, but they don't have table games. But minus 108 on sides/totals is good if one partakes in sports betting. I will have to check out Western Village and Alamo. I wasn't too pleased with the shoe options in Reno. Do either Western Village or Alamo offer surrender?
Is Western Village playable in your opinion?

WESTERN VILLAGE: Playable at tiny to low stakes, dealer-dependent. Table max is only $200. It does not stock black chips in the dealers’ trays. The typical patron is a local flea who bets coins. Poor ventilation makes this place extremely smoky.

I guess it all depends on your bankroll. Western Village and Alamo are both on my list as I am a tiny stakes player but I'm sure for others Peppermill, Atlantis, GSR, and most big Downtown casinos would be a better bet if you play at higher stakes, which actually kinda sucks because the best rules are at the low max bet dumps and have a good possibility of being backed off if playing higher than red or light green
I live in Reno and I usually go to GSR or Silver Legacy for DD. Silver Legacy made almost every table but one 6-5. Western Village does have the best single deck play, but tables are always full of kids bc of $2min bet and they're not open 24/7. Almost all big casinos will have $5min during the day, but switches to $10 sometimes $15 at night.

How do you handle the lack of a shuffle card on the double decks? I've long treated Reno double decks as essentially unplayable because of that deficit.
Regarding double deck in Reno in my experience. Any game where they burn a quarter deck or more off the top is considered unplayable in my book. Sands, Cal Neva, Harrahs seem to be the worst about it but any of the Eldorado properties deal it normally burn one and go. I've seen upwards of 75 percent pen depending on dealer but it's not consistent. One deck out of two is the norm. I've come to the conclusion that single deck play is the way to go in the Reno area and to avoid DD unless I find a dealer giving good pen.
