I counted my first shoei

It is good to see your enthusiasm. Some of us have been at this so long, we have long lost that. Congrats and I wish you well.

Your post took me back to my first time counting in a casinos. It was the Claridge in Atlantic City. A quick google search shows Claridge still a hotel but no longer a casinos. Anyway, I was spreading $5 to $20 that day. A losing spread playing all, which I was that day. I remember thinking all eys were on me and they must surly know what I was doing, when in fact, no one cared.

You have been practicing for only a week and you think you made no mistakes? Who said you made zero mistakes?
 
It was just kitchen table. So Super low stress and by myself. I believe I made no mistakes. But honestly who knows I have basic strategy down very well for the game suggested in blackjack school on this website and when I finished the shoe I was on a 0 count.

Errors or not I'm not really gung go to go to the casino or anything if I can't count down 4 shoes in an hour.

KewlJ I didn't mean to mislead you. I am having a lot of fun leaning, and Im glad I could bring back some nostalgia.

Get QFIT software this way it will help your play.
 
I have been playing for about 3 years and I use the Blackjack apprentice training app on my Iphone. It will tell you when you make a mistake. Starting out is a real rollercoaster ride. Good luck

It is about true count frequencies. In shoe games, especially 8 deck game which is what I was playing at the time, positive EV counts are going to occur so infrequently that you need a large spread to play a winning game. You can play a smaller spread if you are escaping most of the negative counts, but I wasn't doing that back then. 1-4 spread, playing all or most rounds on that game, was almost assuredly still playing a losing game.

So you are mostly scouting for games with as few decks as possible, I take it, given favorable rules.
 
oh I bet. In my practice anyway, it just seems easier to manage and dominate a 2 deck game. But I'm guessing 2 deck pitch games aren't all that common? Or you guys would all be playing them? I hope there are some at my local casino.

Playing an 8D or even 6D game you can feel your face melt waiting for a +TC.
In my opinion. it is much more noticeable to the casino...if you sit there for an hour or 2 flat betting...then go crazy when a +TC finally appears. That is my definition of a counter trap.
It is much easier to hide your spread in a decent DD game.
 
So I feel pretty comfortable with the basic strategy and play variations. Hilo S17 das da2

What rule variations would you say are worth learning I'm situated in ks city area if that matters too you

I intend to learn A different count for dd not even really thinking about crossing that bridge yet. The only books I jave looked at so far are blackjack as a business if you have recommendations that would definitely be well received.)
 
I started in March of 2019. Played 650 hours to break even in all of 2019.

This year, I have only played off and on, but got down $1300 pretty quick, now barely above even lol.

It is not the best game...6 deck, 85% pen, double down after split, cannot re-split aces...split up to 4 times, etc.

2 deck would be better, but it is what it is. I am not giving up, and I still enjoy the thrill of laying out two hands of $50 or 3 hands of $75...get that bit of an adrenaline rush.

The math should catch up eventually lol!!! Bring on the haters that want to be mad at me for barely being above even after 650 hours in 2019 and about 100 hours in 2020 :) I don't care! I've seen what I've seen! Even last night, at the make-or-break point, I had 6,5 against the 8 card...and got the dreaded ACE in a very high count. Story of my short career, but it is my life, not yours!!! :)

My spread is
True +1 = $10
True +2 = $25
True +3 = $50
True +4 = $100

Yeah I guess you have to be prepared for negative variance are you raising off of min bet at a 1? Anyway I hope you end the year up.
