I have read now all the interviews and such on this site the last couple days. AP for only 6-8 weeks. So someone tell me what is 86'd mean? I'm thinking it means you can't return to that casino?

maybe I can help...
I have no casino play(as I am Far too young and can not count anyway) however, I believe it mainly depens on the joint, your bankroll and your bet ramp, for example, if you're playing a 1-10 black chip spread at a green chip you might get one backoff before a barring. If your're playing a 1-10 red chip spread at the mgm grand in las vegas they probably won't even notice you. however, if your playing 1-10 black or purple chip spread at the mgm in vegas they will most likely take notice and depending on how long you've been watched you might get one back off. Of course this again all depends on a number of factors, if you play at a local joint where they know you (especially if you always play during the same shift), if you have a players card(this makes easier to track your play), length of sessions(it's is less likely they'll be able to gain enough information to decide weather your winning is luck or skill if you only play for 1 or 2 hours at a time instead of say 4 or 5) and last but not least when you play(busy holiday weekends or wednesday afternoons, the busier the time the easier it is to blend in and not be noticed)
So I would conclude one maybe two backoffs tops before a barring. However, this is purely an opinion formed on what I've read and nothing more. Maybe some one with more experience can can tell us if I'm right. Any takers?

I was never backed off at Harrah's in Vegas but was tossed at 3 AM from the casino and my room.
I have been backed off (years ago) over a dozen times in the same casino with no barring.
Most places will politely back you off. Best to just go and give them as little to remember you by. Sometimes you can even return on the next shift (unrated if they backed you off with a players card), and play a short session with no problem.
I have witnessed a player getting so upset during a backoff that he did perhaps the one thing to guarantee that the backoff would become an 86. He loudly cursed and yelled and seemed to cause other players to leave the casino. Make them believe you are costing them business and they really get pissed.

At one of my local joints there was no back-off. I was 86'ed right away and received a registered letter in the mail the next day claiming that if I get caught on thier propery ill be charged with trespassing.

Why was that? I've been backed off twice and one of the places was where I was staying, and I was being comped. I was nervous that they were gonna boot me out of the room, but I never used a players card there when playing BJ so I think that saved me. It did give me a lil satisfaction that these tightwads were comping me. I had played pretty big at one of their many properties and not at BJ so ya, they would love to comp me, why not I wasnt a AP at the time when I was getting rated.

A lot of the traditions of pot smoking come from the practice of taking snuff. The snuffbox was passed around in a circle and it was considered bad form to hold onto it too long.

My guess
I played their lousy double deck game against an extremely weak dealer where I could see the hole card perhaps 75% on the time. I did not make stupid plays like hitting an 18 when I knew the dealer had 20, but I had a huge win and probably played the game way too long.
My guess is after I left someone reviewed the tape and might have been able to see the flashes and also noted some of my plays against dealer big cards that were totally against BS but were done only when the dealer had a stiff. Such as: everytime I might have doubled 9 against a 10 the dealer had a big stiff or splitting two little cards against a dealer 10 and the dealer never had a pat hand. Pretty easy to catch on a review.
They were angry. Some casinos look at counting as unfair and just back you off but the same casino may look at holecarding as cheating or taking extreme advantage of their inability to train their people (they get defensive because they know they do not know what they are doing). In this case I was marched to my room and cursed by the suit and security goons in the public areas as they wished to get a physical reaction from me I believe so they could call the police. I said nothing.
