I've got a few questions questions for you all...how long have you all been card counting and which strategy do you use?
I learned to recall a shuffled pack of cards using Dominic O'Brien's system about 10 years ago - and always wanted to get in to card counting.
Only recently have I made the jump (in the last year) to actually trying out a few of the principles. Family life interrupts practice but I got Sandford Wong's book a few months ago and am working on the Hi-Lo system. I also got a copy of CV which is pretty useful.
I am still not a 'fluid' BJ player and don't know all the terminology, but having a trained memory, I reckon I can make a bit of cash at this game - or have fun losing it.:cry:

jinkybhoy - Just noticed you are in Ireland. Anywhere near Dublin?
look at who's posting i think it's a a.conit and myself thats keeping this forum going?
I would like to see a break down of every casino and every BJ going in the uk on this forum, is there enough of us to do that?

I use hi lo, been thinking of moving onto something more advanced, maybe a Hi Opt. Too young to gamble so I haven't had the experience of blowing all my money, but it has given me a chance to get my BS and hi lo count perfect, so I'd say I'm just as ready to enter a casino as some of you on here (been counting 2 years)
Hey Harman, thanks for your personal message. The reason I didn't respond was due to your age. The whole adults and minors thing is a grey area on forums.
Two years - good stuff. If you THINK you are ready then you are ready! Although getting in to a 'real' game at a casino may well be a different ball game...specially if you are attracting a bit of heat! Remember, there is NO failure, only feedback! I reckon you might be retiring at 30!

I have family in North Dublin so will be heading to over some time later this year. I hope to have my game on by then!
CV is pricey - I picked mine up second hand, but is a good tool. I can't compare it to other tools as CV is the only one I use. I haven't really explored its full feature set either yet.
Would like to add that it is good to see some life on this forum. Will add any details about casinos as and when I pick them up.

It would be hard also for an English 18 year old betting say 50 quid a hand to keep the heat down, so age can be a big disadvantage, as can race

Yeah for sure. But your time will come! Just keep practicing. Time is on your side and when it comes to playing in the Casinos you'll be filling your pockets with their dosh.
Even if their facial recognition software gets you banned by age twenty, by twenty five your face will have changed so much you'll be cleaning them out again....and then again in your thirties.:laugh:
You actually raise a good point about betting £50 quid a pop as a teenager. It is not just the counting that we all need to master, it is also discretion. Taking little and often is better than getting rumbled through being flash and trying to take **** loads off them every time.

Hi All,
My first posting into this forum . . .
On the question of age.
When I bust my casino cherry a few weeks ago (am in my forties) I watched with some fascination a young black guy, dressed like s#it in a tatty tracksuit, who had obviously (to me) had a smoke before entering, swap up three fifties and cover a roulette table in chips. Not a trace of any reaction from the croupier. My first thought was "I bet he doesn't work nine to five for a typical wage". A prime example of how not to draw attention to yourself. I think it inevitable that a judge will be curteiling his liberty in the not too distant future.
I think an 18 year old could get away with playing £25/50 a unit if he looked the part - expensively dressed, decent watch, subtle but expensive jewellery and a decent set of wheels in the car park. In effect, a picture of a kid from a pretty wealthy family. Problem with all of this is though that there'll be a greater risk of getting mugged outside than there will in being debarred from the BJ table! ! ! !
