There is nothing wrong with taking the bus. It's mostly filled with tourists anyway. It's $2 each way, the only downside is it takes a bit longer than a cab.

The last time I took the bus, it took almost an hour and 45 minutes to get downtown (admittedly, from a stop by Mandalay Bay). It was horrible, and we took a cab back.
Splitting a cab with one other person isn't bad, and almost certainly worth the vacation time you'd lose on a bus. If you're going downtown anyway, there's no sense in not cabbing. If you're not going downtown, it's probably not worth the trip just to play basic strategy blackjack.
Your on vacation and that is time wasted spending it on the bus.

I never rent a car in Vegas. I walk everywhere, so I don't become fat-arsed Pa Kettle given the amount of food I eat in Vegas. :grin:
I usually get one for less than that. $11 or $12 for a Stratus.But I'm there to gamble and look up old friends.Not much sightseeing on an average trip.
Walking isn't an option when your iternerary for my day includes El Cortez,Ranch Henderson,Rampart Terribles,lunch in Nipton and a special stop at the best four deck game in existance.

It's a heck of a hike out to Red Rock and back to Green Valley! :laugh:
My rental is usually about $20 all in, including taxes. Those $12 offers don't often include all those taxes.
How many AP drive out to Hoover Dam ?

My last rental,with the people in the front left of the car rental place,was $165 for 13 days. I think it was called Advantage. I go thru Jet Blues agency and check several times a day for the cheapest rate. I think I knocked about $60 off that rental from the original price
You are right she is a BS player. I won't forget that.
Harrah's gives 100 dollars cash rebate on slot play for new players if you sign up at Paris. I didn't check Caesars or others. I also don't know if the cash rebate requires you to return to the property.

But, I have to agree with you, I don't have a lot of time to waste on this trip, so I will take a cab and skip the bus.

Don't forget to have fun, sometimes gamblers lose sight of that. Set some bankrolls (trip bankroll, daily bankroll) and stop-loss points for yourself; quit playing if you're angry or sad; remember to sleep occasionally (not hard to forget in Vegas!).
Sadly,the new $100 promo is bounce back vouchers,but you do have a while to cash it. I think its a year,maybe even longer. The old promo was $50 cash.

um i did this past monday while in vegas. had never been. was with a friend sorta sightseeing.
As for the trip, was way above EV, around 7-8 units an hour, so I ended up playing a little less than I originally planned. At one joint, I left after one DD round, I was up 15 units and it was heat city (i had my own PB, how thoughtful of that casino!) So i got up an left. Nothing like winning that much in 5 minutes. Even better because they definitely won't remember me there in 1-2 months when i go back.

never been to Vegas. but i'm just wondering you can really get around every where just walking?
i mean i'd be one to prefer walking but i've heard it is really a lot of territory.
how about downtown for walking? is downtown near the strip?

It actually is quite a walk.
From Mandalay Bay (what I consider the southernmost point on the Strip) to the Wynn (what I consider the northernmost point) is about 2 hours. Downtown is sufficiently far from the Strip that you shouldn't attempt to walk it. Palms and Hard Rock are close enough to the Strip that you can walk, but it's probably not worth it in terms of time/effort/risk of mugging, especially if you're plastered and it's 3am.
I've been to Vegas enough so that I have no incentive to take the "scenic" route through all the casinos; even in the midsummer, midday heat, I'll walk outside and can get from MB to Wynn in 45 minutes. The first two years we went out we had a car; it was moderately useful for the "oh crap we're staying at Mandalay Bay and I need to cash a sports bet at the Bellagio" or "oh crap we've got 15 minutes to get from TI to MGM Grand" moments, but we just have fewer of those moments now.
