I have heard this attributed to JP Morgan. He supposedly said it in response to someone who asked how much it cost for him to maintain his yacht.

Since we are discussing 4 Winds it should be mentioned that this is the casino that stole player's money. When the players sued to get it back the Kangaroo Tribal court ruled they were cheating. The attorney (Bob Loeb) will be on the show Dec 8th to talk about this case.

In the old days I had several friends backed off without ever placing a bet. Just the way they were looking at the tables got them backed off.

I don't know the current conditions for a card counter in those states. But yes the weather would be much better and there are many more casinos.

PA good for the winter??? First of all, you have to scout your own games. But go west young man. Try New Mexico, AZ, and CA. At least it will be warmer than PA and a lot more casinos.

This is one of those internet pieces of conventional wisdom that no one can prove. To my knowledge no person has ever been prosecuted let alone convicted of this.

You have to remember that this was happening back in about 1980. Casinos were using the simplest one pass shuffles imaginable. Discards on top, no plugs, and one pass R&R. I agree that today shuffle tracking is not a worthwhile pursuit, unless you happen upon the right shuffle.

So what are people doing to convert the points?

Ken Uston threw a player off his team for shuffle tracking. He didn't believe that a player could be accurate enough to have an edge. Uston wouldn't be the first or the last author to write about techniques they weren't really familiar with.

Sorry, I agree with Steve. Both the cheater, and the advantage player are looking for ways to extract money from a casino. I played with computers when it was legal. Then they changed the law so I stopped. Someone who plays with a computer now is cheating. Is that person so different...

Ah - this is the point. See, when someone says I won 18 grand I could not care less about the size of their unit. I have no interest in that at all. I want to know, how did the casino take it? Did you bet table max, or stay under it? At what point did they start to sweat? Did they yank any...

OK, that all makes sense. But let's say you decide for heat reasons that you are going to have a top bet of 2x400. Now you could bet 2x400 at 1/2% advantage or depending on your ROR you could decide to put that out at 2% advantage. For the sake of argument let's say you decide on the 2%...
