    Scoping out a casino

That may be, but they will be quality hands. I haven't kept careful track, but when I am on a wonging excursion, I believe I play more positive count hands than when I sit at a table and wait through all the neutral and negative counts.

    Checks play, doubling hard...

Any tipping should be in appreciation of good service. Tipping as a means of achieving some favorable condition is a waste of money.

    Question on comps

The answer, of course, is that it depends on the casino. There are some casinos that will rush over to offer a food comp almost as soon as you sit down, and others that will not offer a comp under any circumstances. If you post which area of the country you are interested in, I am sure someone...

    About 3rd-base(+story)

I recently played a session where every time a player left 3rd base, the ploppies would argue about who could move there. Just move. This is common practice among ploppies. Nobody will notice.

Just got slaughtered for 110 units, I want to cry

Let's crawl before we walk. The guy was talking about dropping his bet to the minimum during a high count, waiting until the tide turned. He's got to get past that nonsense before he goes on to anything else.

No. There is no tide. What happened in the past does not affect what will happen on future hands, except if the count changed. If the count calls for a max bet, make a max bet.

    Wonging In

I agree that other than waiting until you have a larger BR, this is the best strategy. The only thing I would disagree with is whether you would become known as an AP. If you are betting $10 a hand, I don't think anyone is going to pay any attention to you.

    Wonging In

Back counting is probably not effective with 4 tables open. Maybe with 8 tables, but you actually need more. A few suggestions: See "Professional Blackjack" by Stanford Wong, Page 36, about entering a game in progress. This will increase your opportunities. Also, you can play higher...

    Wonging In

Great advice. I would add that in my wonging excursions, I go at a busy time, usually Friday or Saturday night. More tables are open and the place is crowded (but can't be so crowded that you can't find a seat). People are drinking and partying more on those nights, making it more possible to...

    Dealer Blackjack on first hand

Nope. It just "seems like". Just as it "seems like" when the dealer shows an Ace with no BJ, he turns up a 9 in the hole to push your 20 or beat your 19. And with a 10 showing, it "seems like" the dealer will have a 10 in the hole most of the time. Ain't so. Trust the math.

    Red Seven Indices

Fred, in a DD game, starting at -4, would you also begin ramping up at -1? Thanks for all your great info.

    Backcounting and Wonging in

Wonging in doesn't work well for me in small places or at non-busy times. I pick a larger place at a busy time (Friday and Saturday nights), when many tables are open. In fact some of the places I play are near major sports venues. I go after games dressed in team colors. Most of the patrons...

    Elite ploppy basic strategy explained!!

This doesn't make me laugh. It makes me mad. There was a time that I wanted to learn about the subject of blackjack. I didn't know where to begin, so I Googled and found some sites that gave very good descriptions of basic strategy and the fundementals of card counting. If someone who...

    Checks Play

With the exception of a few places (like EC), "Checks play" calls are usually ignored. However, use only greens and reds. At a low minimum table, a call of "Black in action" will turn heads.
