1-5 spread safety

If that's all the info you can provide the answer is no because you don't know what you're up against. So there definitely is risk of a back off
 
Depends on the place. Some places will back you off if you get lucky and win a few $100 flat bets.

There's a couple of things. First of all, it's not a break even game. In a good double decker, say 75% pen with DAS, you'll win a decent amount.

The main thing I would say though, is it's probably better to use a larger spread and lower unit. 1-8 in green will get a large amount of money, with less risk and less heat than 1-5 in black. Less variance, too.

Yeah but he was talking 6d not DD. 1-5 in black will win some $ but the variance will be huge and you'll need a 50k bank to even stay around 25% RoR with 75% pen. Find a 5/6 game and cut it to 17% RoR.

Better yet spread 50-500 and you'll have the same win rate and much lower RoR.
 
main reason for betting higher of a hand and spreading less would be to get comps at a casino where you want longevity at.

at $100+ a hand would a 1-5 spread be pretty reasonable or would even that be too much?

Your RoR might be too high to reap enough comps to make up for the potential losses. If you don't mind me asking, what is your bankroll? That will help determine what your optimal bets should be. Balancing your comps with a smaller RoR seems like a better path to go down.

You mentioned wanting comps and longevity. At a place where you play regularly for bets in the $100-to-$500 range, I believe the number one requirement is that your player's card looks like a loser over time.

You can achieve that by intentionally playing $200 through VP or slots until your last penny is gone. If you get a free room for a week with that $200 it's worth it.
 
Where are you playing (location wise)

If you're in Vegas just play at a bunch of places and get comps at all of them. If you lose a place it's no biggie

I wasn't advocating losing, but rather concealing your not losing, or looking as if you've lost more -- whichever the case may be that day.
 
how is the heat on the 6d games in vegas when spreading 1-10x with $50 bets?

still probably too high when looking for longevity :confused:?

According to CVCX. Using HI-LO with full indices. Spreading 5 to 1 in black with a bank of 10 grand. Even playing 6 deck,DAS,RSA,LS dealing 5 out of 6 decks your risk of ruin is over 60%. And the NO is over 28,000 hands. The hourly win rate is about 153 dollars. With the NO that high it will take a long time to get in the long run and see that win rate.

Even your bankroll is 500 units, your chance of ruin is still too high. Normally the comfortable bankroll for any play is 2000 units. People having $20,000 bankroll should play $10 minimal table (6D deck).
 
1-4spread in black is more than required

Game is still better than breakeven assuming your restroom break at -4...
You can do 1-3 spread on s17,ds double deck..
