A 6:5 game worth playing!

For you Americans, don't you wish you could take weeks of vacation off at a time from work like many Europeans do? Well, a few companies have come up with an idea to let you do so: Agree one day while at work to bet a certain amount (over a few hours) playing 6:5 Blackjack and they'll grant you the extra weeks! The outcome of your hands don't affect whether or not you get the leave, just agree to play a game many of us on here don't like for awhile. (By the rules this is actually a +EV move by about a 2:1 factor based on the amount you're expected to lose by playing vs. the pay from those days off of work.)

April Fool's!

W,t, and f.

Maybe I missed your punchline to the joke, what is the punchline again?
I'm not very smart so please forgive me and I'd love to enjoy a good joke, thank you.

You're not from the U.S.? In the U.S. it's kind of a custom to make a ridiculous statement on April 1st, and then after you've pulled everyone's leg; announce "APRIL FOOLS"! A local radio station this year went so far as to report Obama's resignation. I've got to admit, they had ME fooled! (wishful thinking I guess)

So here's the premise for the joke: If you're not aware the U.S. is one of the very few (if not the only) industrialized country/ies that the government does not require employers to give you a certain amount of vacation time each year. The premise of this joke is that if you're willing to play a game that on average will grind down your bankroll (in order to collect some money from you) those companies will give you more time off. In other words, this game acts like a charity game in that you play expecting to lose (the difference here is that you get something in return). Since many of us really dislike 6:5 Blackjack, I thought that turning it around and making it sound good would be humorous.

Put it another way: Instead of taking a slight pay cut for more leave, you get to have some fun and have them collect the difference by playing a normally bad game.

neversplit5's, I appreciate you trying to make a joke about the 6:5 games but your attempt at humor is in dire need of work. Since you fail to see why, I will point it out to you free of charge. In order to be funny, a joke has to be in the realm of possibility.

No company in the US is ever going to grant you more vacation for playing 6:5 blackjack. Secondly, your calculation of how much of an EV move that would be is just plain ridiculous. It's not funny in the least because there is no humor in calculating EV nor is it even possible to do so since we all work for different amounts of money and value vacation differently.

I suggest you watch a lot more American comedy on TV and then you'll begin to get an idea of what might pass for funny. Better yet, don't try to joke. It'll save you a lot of embarrassment.

OK, since everyone thinks my joke flopped feel free to delete/lock/whatever to this thread if you want to.

This joke was one I cooked up at the last minute when I read an article on vacation time and people willing to take a slight pay cut for more leave. I thought I'd give it a twist for BJ fans, and I guess it failed to work.

P.S. I did have another idea for an April Fool's joke that I was originally going to post (something unrelated to this one but still BJ-related). If any of you want to hear it, let me know and I'll post it. Hint: It's about a (fictitious) new casino offering a game that hasn't been offered anywhere I know of in years (SD, 3:2, S17, DA2) with a little twist which you have to do in order to be allowed to play it that won't cost you any EV if you fall in the right group or you're brave enough otherwise (nothing illegal though).
