A Counter Trap

Reminds me of the two decker at the Palms. What a game that was.

So you think this is really a trap, a game set up for a loss but to help identify counters? Nobody but a counter cares about penetration.
It looks like Caesar's writing but why can't you tell us where this game is? It's like telling someone there is a bomb planted somewhere but not where. Unless your friend is the only one to receive this notice, it will not identify him or her as the recipient (if, in fact, this is a mailer and not an ad or poster).
Why Eliot won't give the location...
Because as a counter my first thought is:
1) Ensure they have a decent non-counter trap BJ game at the casino.
2) Go to the casino. Go to their non-trap game. Do not count for 30 minutes, vary your bets mildly.
3) Go to counter-trap. Spread mildly with count for 10 minutes. Spread progressively more wildly and randomly for the next 20 minutes. Make the odd BS error.
4) Return to regular game. Spread at will with count for the next few hours. Return to counter-trap game for brief intervals and spread randomly. Wash, rinse, repeat.
5) Profit!
Maybe it'd work... maybe it wouldn't... but it's worth a try. Other strategies come to mind as well.
Remember, deception is the better part of valor.

Your response is a lot better than Feep's and I respect that (although I still don't understand your friend's reasoning). It seems to be a foregone conclusion that this a counter's trap. Most non-AP players wouldn't even know what penetration is (no sex jokes please), so maybe it is a trap. When I've been half-shoed, the other players at the table didn't even notice. I guess this creates a new thread for your web site (which is fine and I have no problem with), but there's really no other point to post the warning without giving the casino. Ce'st la vie. Sounds good to me! I was posting partly in jest and partly to see what people thought of that idea... counter-traps pop-up all time, some more obvious than others.

I find the ad curious in its own right -- here is a casino clearly using language that only counters and advantage players would understand. Not only that, they are advertising in a publication that they must assume counters read. The level of thought that went in to this attempt to coax would-be counters into the camera's eye assumes that we are a pack of drooling dogs. I can't imagine the meeting where the ad group got together to design this.
Maybe the conversation went something like this:
Moron 1: F*** Counters!
Moron 2: Yeah F*** `em
Moron 1: Let's get em.
Moron 2: Let's round them up and shoot them.
Moron 1: Great idea, but we have to get them here first.
Moron 2: Let's put an ad in the paper advertising the best game in the world.
Moron 1: Yeah and when they show up we'll shoot them.
Moron 2: We'll pick them off one by one.
Moron 1: Hey, what's that growing out of your neck?
Moron 2: That's my head, you moron.

The two deck $25 game at the Palms was a good game. The only problem was that several counters were identified there and were experiencing backoffs at other casinos after palying this game. Good game though with pentration it was addictive. Lately I hear that it has gone down hill.

First, LV-TI's DD $25. Tables have been known as same, i.e., "Counter Trap" for several years!
Second...WHO CARES???...with all of the 6/5 SD opportunities now available in LV, wherein wide spreads are tolerated, and all it takes for a decent CC to win is a 10:1 spread, a good basic counting system, and ability to keep RC, TC, and 3-4 side-counts...it is so easy now!
How do I know?....Because ZG told ME SO!
For example, with 1/2 the deck played, you have 2,2 and the Dealer shows a 6-up. The RC is +8, therefore the TC is +16. No Aces are yet out, but #3-8's have been played...only #2-7's are out, but they were both red....and the Cocktail Waitress's TITS are BIG, and her top is LOW-CUT..."YOUR PROPER PLAY?"
OF COURSE! Split, re-split, but NEVER DD...do whatever it takes to still be sitting at your spot so that you can view the Waitress's TITS again.
