Why are aces the same as the 10's?

Why should we count the ace side count the same values as the 10's? If the 10's are -1, why not have the Ace's as +/- 2? What if the 10's are -2? Why not have the Aces as +/-1 or +/-3?

The ace has the same point value as a ten value card because you are trying to factor in the likelihood of a blackjack and soft double. That is the appropriate weight to give it. It is most likely it was determined through sims what the best weight to give the ace when sizing your bet.

In blackjack, the E.O.R. for an Ace is similar to that of a TEN.

Can you elaborate? Do you mean visualizing the number of aces on the "right side" of the RC in your head?

Ya! Of course the way you keep track of the cards varys somewhat between players. However, the most natural way i see to do it, it to just to say it in your mind. Not so much of a visualizition. But if there were or is a visualizition it would look like this for example -13/4 or +8/3 or +17/5. I continually say the count after each card counted in my head.

A thing to note about the SC, its a different world when it comes to multiple deck compared to double. Tough! Practice the 2-card combos, until you can count about 3 soft hands in a row "as a pair" without slowing down.
