I don't know why people think some chips are luckier than the others. When I am piling up the chips, some people like to make the change from me, not from the dealer because I am supposed to have all the lucky chips. The typical exchange is that they want four green chips for their black chip or just handed me one hundred bill for four green chips. The act interrupts my counting and worse of all, some people think we are friends now and ask me what to do with their hands. I don't want to be an asshole of the table but it is really annoying and it keeps happening to me. And it doesn't benefit me at all. What would you do in the situation?

I'd be the a-hole of the table.
I'd either point to the dealer and say that's what he/she gets paid for.
Or nicely say, for a 25% commission that I'd be glad to do it.

I don't care too much if other players at the table think I'm an a-hole. The fewer players at my table means the happier I am. I'll even split 10s when it's not advantagous to do so if I think it will clear a table.

Where is it you are supposed to be playing? I've never come across anything like that, and believe most casinos will not allow players to exchange chips as you describe.

I've played in many casinos and have never seen anyone allowed to change chips with others, they usually dont eveen like people giving some of thier chips to someone (as a spouse), sounds kind of fishy to me.

In PA casinos. Before I saw your post, I thought it has to be a common practice since it happened to me so often.

I certainly wouldn't take someone's cash for chips, especially $100 bills. Too many counterfeiters.

Well, they are smart enough not to slow down the game.. I love those plops., who like to speed up the game. After reading your post, I'll say relax- It's NO big deal..

If someone is buying chips from you, that's great.. It'll add to your comps instead of his balance
Simply hand that bill to dealer and collect 4 green and give him 4 green.. you have gained comps.
