Another strange rule question....

Was talking Blackjack with a friend today who mentioned a strange incident a while back. Not alot of other customers playing, PB comes over and tells them for the next shoe their max bet is $25 but he will allow the 3 of them playing together to "fold" one of their cards (their choice) and take another card after every round is dealt. Not talking about a different game or regular surrender, he plays enough to know the difference. Anybody ever heard of this before of have any idea what % it is worth? BTW, I have played the same joint before and since and have never heard/seen anything like this.

I would think which card to fold would be a no brainer.

There are probably a few that aren't so obvious. How about something like A2/T4v7? A2 often makes 18+, but also has BJ potential. Whereas T4 is much less likely to make a hand. I'm tempted to think the 3:2 instant payoff is enough to sway the decision, but I wouldn't mind knowing the correct play.

A casino that I play at regularly runs promos like that. Some other promos have been dealer loses all 21 ties, if dealt a ten/six you can change the six for a new card and a whole bunch of other oddities. The promos usually last for fifteen minutes or 30 minutes.

This casino always has six card "charlie" pays double if you win, 777 pays extra $25 if you win, suited 777 pays extra $50 if you win, 678 pays double if you win, and 678 suited pays extra $25 if you win. This is all on six deck games with pretty good rules.

I've hit the double pay on a 678 a couple of times.

Knowing what is going on in the area you play I think, if true, the casino in question is feeling out some new type of game to compete with all the other competing casinos.

Surely a hitch to the game, like 6.5 BJ payout,,,etc.

I also figured there must be a catch, however my buddy assured me there was not. You know the place VERY well but don't really play there anymore.

Was just curious what kind of advantage the player would have, percentage wise. My friend wisely bet the $25 max for the shoe and did very well.....

They have a mystery tables, I think on Mondays or Thursdays with different special options, like 2.1 BJ's, etc.

It can be alot of fun.
