At my home casino I have to admit I have a favorite ploppy. I'm friendly with him and all but he always seeks out the table I'm playing. I play off the top of shoes and wong out. He always sits at first base and tells me that I'm the best third baseman he's ever seen. I talk about the night's going and I can use all the classic ploppy lines (assume dealer has 10 in the hole, for example) and he gets really into the whole "order of the cards"

I will wong out, watch him get his ass kicked and he gets really fired up. He has even at one point started yelling at the cards.

It may not add EV or anything.. But I find it very entertaining at times.

I don't know if you could consider him a full blown ploppy because he does know BS. I like this guy though because he helps everyone out and is "usually" nice about it. One time I saw him at a table with a few of my friends who have the "screw the book, my way makes me money" mentality and he was hillarious...yelling at them and what not, making fun of them and embarassing them . He always pushes even money when you have a natural and the dealer has an Ace though...le sigh

i have a new favorite ploppy as of this weekend. He was so wasted that he kept telling the dealer and PB that he was counting, and then preceded to push out $200 table max bets...and....was winning. Not to say he didnt drop a couple hands of $400 doubles...but he won about $1500 in the 30 minutes i sat there. He even told me to bet $200...(had $50 out) because he counted and "I" was going to get a blackjack....and i did get one, upon which he called me a pussy. This guy was all over the map, the bit poss was seriously on him until he saw a couple $200 losses. He did however give his buddy a crapload of greens then when he left the table, loaded his pockets up with around 800-1k worth of green and stumbled away. That kind of clued me in to him maybe being smarter than he was letting on....good call on not coloring up when the PB isnt watching. :cool2:

This guy who always takes insurance bets because "Nine times out of ten the dealer has ten in the hole."

1st time dealer has an ace showing: "Yeah, let me have insurance. I think you have it." Dealer does not have blackjack. "Damn!"

2nd time: "You didn't have it last time, this time I bet you have it." No.

3rd time: "You gotta have it this time." No.

4th time: "Alright, this time I'm sure you have blackjack." No.

5th time: "This time I'm positive you have blackjack!" Dealer has blackjack. "See? I told you!"

id say about 10% of people who appear to always play basic strategy, actually do it perfectly without any ploppy garbage like even money

Even money is one of the best plays in Blackjack.

Let me explain.

Let's say you are dealt a blackjack on a $50 Dollar Bet, and the dealer has an Ace showing. The true count is greater than +3 so you place your insurance bet of $25. In terms of your insurance bet, there are 2 things that can happen.

1. The dealer does not have blackjack-your hand will have a payoff of $75 ( 3/2 x $50), and you will loose your $25 insurance bet, for a net profit of $50.

2. The dealer has blackjack-your blackjack will push the dealer's blackjack, and your insurance bet will pay $50 (2x $25)

In either case, your net profit will be an even money payout of $50.

In short, take even money at +3 or greater.
