Anyone been Backed off Aria and other MGM properties

#1
Has anyone been backed off the Aria game yet? Do they say you can't play or do they flat bet you?

Does this mean you can't play at any MGM properties?

I hear their eye is the sky is used to spot card counters. Does this mean that all counters will get cutoff at some point? it's just a matter of time no matter how short the sessions are?

Just like at most casinos, big wins, damning skills check results, and a hot players card will get you backed off. The effect of the first two will only be felt as a result of the third. If you're a reasonably big net-winner at MGM properties and they don't know who you are, will you get backed off just for sitting down? How about if you get backed off at Mirage playing unrated and play a different shift at Aria three months later?

But yes, Aria will back you off and share info with sister properties. If you're playing rated, assume that your card is toast at all MGM properties. If you're worried about surveillance, play short sessions and don't play rated!

have an acquaintance that works the floor at aria now and the wynn before. He said that any play over quarters with no player's card gets scrutiny and is looked at pretty closely.

Anyone else heard the same?

Word on the street is they have a real gung-ho surveillance guy over there. You know, the kind who actually takes his job seriously and studies up on advantage play. He's probably reading this thread.

Well then maybe the surveillance person will eventually decide that putting in the extra effort to catch counters isn't worth it since he probably won't be getting that promotion or sufficient recognition from the management team. He will realize that he can collect the same pay and do less work. Or if he has good ethics, redirect his energy into watching out for the real criminals and possibly stop a crime in progress, save a life, etc.

I imagine that he is like a typical minion of evildoers everywhere — working to justify his meager paycheck by collecting a folio of victims.

You guys are making a lot of assumptions about this guy. Some people are not as motivated by money as others, and are satisfied with a modest paycheck and the feeling of a job well done. Some people could actually find enjoyment in being the cat in a game of cat and mouse. This could easily give a guy enough motivation to have a long career in surveillance, even if he never gets rich doing it. I wouldn't count on such a person losing interest in you or your advantage play shenanigans anytime soon, if ever.

Whatever the case, having a tough opponent in surveillance at Aria is enough to make me want to search elsewhere for opportunities, because easy money still abounds at a lot of other places.

Aria is bad alright. No argument there.
I think that the only tougher surveillance can be found at the Cosmo'
Have played both, several times with no problems. But short sessions are a must. You can't just sit there spreading like a madman.

I rank them as equally tough, but the guy at Cosmopolitan doesn't have as much to watch.

That's one reason I prefer Aria over Cosmo, at least there's more activity to occupy the PC's and the eye. Each time I've been in Cosmo it doesn't seem like there's more than 2-3 DD tables with players.

X2. Spot on.

I've got the tap, in both places after only 3-5 minutes. It might be better search for greener pastures.

Actually one of the taps was not a tap at all but a very rude "Hey! You just take your chips and get of here!"

Had no idea the cosmo was bad. I actually killed it last time i was there. I actually did a 1 to 30 spread just because it was my last day in vegas.
