Anyone hear of the book "Progressive Blackjack?"

I was playing last night with this fellow who kept insisting to me that he was right to double down on an 8 vs a dealer 6 in an 8 deck game when the count wasn't good. I asked him why he thought that was a good move. He then shows me this basic strategy chart from this so called book that he made a copy of. I'm looking at him and telling him, that must be for single deck. He insists it's for multiple decks. Can anyone verify that this book is indeed printing misinformation out?

I've heard of a book called Progression Blackjack: Exposing the Card Counting Myth by Donaly Dahl. Is that the one? I couldn't find anything for Progressive Blackjack.

A lot of books print out misinformation. I've never read that book specifically, but my general suspicions are multiple:

(1) People are idiots, screw up basic strategy calculations, and publish them.

(2) Casinos fund these books with bad advice in an effort to derail people who don't know better.

(3) Authors want their books to be different from previous books and allow differences so they're distinct.

I doubt this was a card counting book because on his basic strategy card (if it's so basic, why do 99% of people not know it ;) ) it also showed different betting progressions.

Ronald Dahl. It also included an incorrect BS that would extend the progression with a higher housEdge. zg
